Kind of a pun , but we did drive down there for the weekend - wow - talk about driving into a belly of a monster .
That Shell Mouth Dam must be wide open and that Lake still came up 1 ft in less than 24 hrs .

"Near Record and Record Rain in June — University of Minnesota Extension climatologist Mark Seeley says the statewide average rainfall in Minnesota for June, as of Friday was about 7.29 inches, just behind the all-time wettest June of 1914. Several observers have reported record rain totals for the month of June, including Ada, with over 8.5 inches. Redwood Falls and Glencoe have each received more than 14 inches of rain this month. Luverne and Chaska measured over 13 inches in June. Dennis Todey, South Dakota State Climatologist, reports that the Canton, South Dakota weather observer has measured 18.75 inches of rain in June, a new statewide record for the month, breaking the old record by more than 2.5 inches.

Acres Lost to Storms — Soybean and Corn Advisor president Michael Cordonnier thinks totals acres lost to spring storms could reach 2 million acres. Cordonnier says that is just a guess after touring affected areas in Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota. There also has been talk of losses similar to 1993, but Cordonnier dismisses that saying it would have to rain much more and across a much bigger area to even come close to the acres lost from flooding in 1993."

Way Too Much Water — In the Wahpeton, North Dakota area, Crop Production Services agronomist Kris Tedrow says there is just way too much water. “It’s been a terrible spring. It’s probably the worst I’ve seen in my 20 years of doing this. I have PP acres this year and I can’t honestly say I’ve seen PP acres as high as they are within my trade territory. As you go east across the Red River on the Minnesota side, southern Clay county, east of Barnesville, even northern Wilkin county, there’s just way too much water.” Tedrow says the crop is slow in developing because of the excess moisture.

Erratic Rainfall — Rothsay farmer Jerry Nordick measured about a foot of rain on his farm in two weeks, but the rains have been very variable. “Someone asked me how wet it is. I said it depends on which leg is standing where. We had a situation at the home place, where we got no rain on the east end of the section and on the west end we had to wait a day-and-a-half before we could plant. That’s how erratic these showers have been.” Nordick says there won’t be a lot of prevented plant right in his area.

Mud and Standing Water — Farmers in many locations are battling mud or standing water. Bill Zurn, at Calloway, Minnesota told RRFN Tuesday his ground is wet, but it could be worse. “It’s not as wet as some others. We do have some drowned out. A lot of the corn is looking yellow. Some of the beans are yellow. Even some of the wheat isn’t looking the best color. We’ve had airplanes spraying because we can’t get in because it’s been so wet. Our tiling is paying off this year.”

Hav u ever grown a crop with no rain for 8 years? Be thankful you get rain, can't grow a crop without it.

I have seen too much rain and too little rain - I never once said otherwise - just sad to see is all .

River out of the dam is flat out. Spilling 2 feet or more out the spillway. The rain from the weekend has barely even hit the lake. Heard the mville dam broke this morning so that will eventually make it to LOTP. Wonder if she'll take it!

Lake rising to east of their we were warned today! That water is also going that way!

I agree S 3, it's a natural disaster,i wouldn't wish it on anyone. The dry years will come again ( i believe in long term weather patterns ) hopefully not too dry. Hopefully there's some gov. assistance for those affected. Too bad farming isn't considered very important, like it is in europe.

Now that I agree with! In canada we criticize and hate farmers in USA and Europe they know where their food is produced. Wish it was that way here!

I've said many times"Canada has never known a food shortage". As long as you have money in your pocket you can buy food.There is always been fully stocked shelves.

Just put the pier and boat lift in last weekend. Took it back out this weekend. Short summer!

Maybe compared to France farmers in Canada are held in poorer regard most other places in Europe the opposite is true. Farming is way less "acceptable" in most of Europe than it is in North America.
