    Braveheart

So its good for your partners to make up things like a mythical fertilizer shortage and a 5 dollar basis between here and the coast.

And then because they are the nicest guys you will ever meet, because they make about 100 grand on every average sized farm, these are the guys you want to partner with.

The families are currently in the process of downloading storage costs to farmers and guys are being told they can make storage revenue in a dysfunctional market with no movement.

Hats off to your buddy bill Parrish, I would bet you even buy the cocktails.

You ever ask Parrish why as a partner, the farmer doesn't get more value for his grain.

International wheat prices are not changed too much.

How does taking more from a farmer help the farmer. I get how it helps his business.

Hook line and sinker is all I can think of.

And maybe ask him why the families are not trading in Winnipeg. Really curious as to his response.

P &H not a partner. They're not anywhere close to me.

I know the grain trade guys from a previous life.

The grain cos trade canola on ICE. Sure there are some back to back flat transactions. But risk is managed via ICE for most sales.

The grain cos trade hrsw on Mpls.

Holy ****, in a generic sense he knows the answer. Whether you deal with P H or not its the same.

Why do your partners invent fertilizer shortages and 5 dollar basis as an excuse to steal ?

Extortion and collusion were against the law at one time.

If they use Mpls, convert to cdn dollars and minus the freight where is the extra basis coming from?

Considering that north Dakota basis is far less than ours, and their grain is moving, it seems we are back to the same problems. Just substitute any graincos name in place of the CWB.

Your buddy should understand that question as well.

It blows my mind how many owners and operators of multimillion dollar businesses, yes that's us, don't have a ****ing clue what competition, a requirement for an open market, looks like. I've won and I've lost in the "open market" that's life and another management skill needed to be a successful farmer. What pisses me off is the fact that even though I deal direct with mills in the states I can't get my product there. Meanwhile the vultures circle here ready to peck your asshole out at first opportunity. I hate to say it but we need about a three year widespread drought in western canada to teach everybody a little respect.

Braveheart you really nned to open your eyes I think. You think the grain cos. are your partners or that you are somehow part of a value chain?? Do you suppose that the grain cos. don't operate under the assumption that their competitor is their friend?? Time to take off the rose colored glasses......
