    State of Emergency

Mb declared state of emergency over flooding. Hoop and holler again an option. Bad news for those in that area.

They've made the decision to breach hoop n holler again. Bad news indeed.

Assiniboine River Valley west of Brandon must already be beyond a diasaster.

Severe weather forecast for tomorrow night.

Were the farmers in MB that were intentionally flooded out by their government in 2011 properly reimbirsed??

I seem to recall they were ripped off.

These are the same people about to get flooded. I don't remember them being adequately compensated.

The Manitoba forecasters don't learn from their mistakes. They failed to forecast the 2011 crest and now they have underestimated this years crest. Apparently there is a lack of computers to calculate the flow from a given rainfall.

I thought when the Mb g'ovt cut that berm or highway a year or two back only a half dozen quarters were flooded, and it did little to ease the flooding on the other side. Wasn't it a complete failure, and a huge waste of money?

Water flow volumes are greater now since a lot of us know how to ditch. Does anyone know how the farmers North and West of Lampman are doing? All the water came down on them in 2011 and it had no where to go. Some fields had 12 feet, Whole yards flooded, I was told.

What were they suppost to do in 2011 with that amount of water coming? Was Minot ND perpared? They had to send the water down the Portage deversion or Wpg would have flooded.

As for this year's flood what do you mean they have underestimated it. In your opinion how should they be handling the situation?

There have been plans to empty lake Mb to Churchill and divert more water , but never acted on. They continue to let more high price development build along the Assiniboine.

Leader-Post today showing tornado flattening farmer at Outlook and flooding at Crooked Lake. New houses being built on flood plain. Is the taxpayer on the hook for those damages?

Most every city is developed along rivers and development continues. That generates the highest property taxes. People who develop along rivers are fully aware of the risk and should take that into consideration before building. Not sure how the Province can stop it from happening.
