What were they suppost to do in 2011 with that amount of water coming? Was Minot ND perpared? They had to send the water down the Portage deversion or Wpg would have flooded.

As for this year's flood what do you mean they have underestimated it. In your opinion how should they be handling the situation?

There have been plans to empty lake Mb to Churchill and divert more water , but never acted on. They continue to let more high price development build along the Assiniboine.

Leader-Post today showing tornado flattening farmer at Outlook and flooding at Crooked Lake. New houses being built on flood plain. Is the taxpayer on the hook for those damages?

Most every city is developed along rivers and development continues. That generates the highest property taxes. People who develop along rivers are fully aware of the risk and should take that into consideration before building. Not sure how the Province can stop it from happening.

The government engineers know where the weak points are they have failed to shore up those diked areas until it may be too late. There should have been diversions constructed to use in such emergencies not a release via overland flooding.
