Crops are generally late in our area with some cereals just heading and canola starting to flower. These later crops are facing a below normal temp for August. There are some earlier crops but overall we are in trouble. Frost in late August early Sept would be devastating. This coupled with low prices could slow down the rush to expand.

We've been really lucky tbe last few years. In 1989 August 17, the combines were trying to burn down in Lentils with outdoor temps close to 100*. Within 24 hours temps plummeted and we saw -5 degrees for several hours. Then other years, the evenings were so cold that we were sure it would freeze hard and it didn't, so who knows? Another hot week coming up. Let's hope the heat lasts for awhile.

Hope you make it Agstar. The Valley is such a mix this year. Carman is on time to early. Beans there look great. East and SE of there mostly later and needs heat by the look of the beans.
Looks like severe weather might hit there today.

I am hoping for a frost, not for the rest of you but me. Decisions and cropping gets much easier. 2015 is what I am chasing now. 14 is a dud.
Seriously looking at floating the fertilizer on this fall and filling with seed in 2015 and pushing harder.
The fields are mostly 800 acre blocks now. Should move easier.

If you need blasting of beaver dams and houses, gather up the scope of work (legal description and general location of nuisance) with your neighbours and provide that to your RM. I know of one blaster who does RM work.
I don't think he does individual private shots because usually it is a water system that requires some homework and topographical map study. Blowing one dam may solve your problem but create a big problem for dammed up properties down the line. RM of Shellbrook may have insight if this strategy is working or not.
