"Short-lived Warming Trend — The warming trend will be short-lived for central and eastern parts of the Midwest, where World Weather, Inc. ag meteorologist Drew Lerner expects two and possibly three more waves of cool weather by mid-August. The cold surge expected late this month is not likely to be as significant as what we saw this past week, but that which occurs in mid-August may be somewhat similar. Lerner says the weather will not create enough adversity in the next few weeks to seriously harm crop development or production potential. There is some potential for a drier and warmer finish to the growing season in late August and September.
