    First Statcan Crop Production Estimate

Just a note to put everyone on notice that the first Statcan crop production estimate will be released tomorrow (Aug. 23). This will be the first survey based yield estimate and will give an idea of the drought's impact (keeping in mind the survey was done 2 to 3 weeks ago).

I will try to post but can make no guarantees to get done early (all my bosses will be looking for interpret megaseconds after release). If I can't get it done, could I get one of you to post it off the statcan web site.

          1 Quebec and Ontario only.

First column is 2001. Second 2002. Third percent change. Last 5 yr. average. The website is:

          http://www.statcan.ca/Daily/English/020823/d020823a.htm

The above confirms how bad the production problem in western Canada is. I will leave the discussion to others till later today.

Me thinks there is a problem with the web site.

During some recent upgrades the username system was modified somewhat.

It should now show your username when posting.
