    Fair Rail for Grain

Waiting for details of regulations under Bill-C30.
The legislation allows for more regulation but does not spell out most of it.
The devil will be in the details.
Gerry Ritz and AgCanada have an unenviable task in balancing concerns of different grain supply chain links.
There is also concern from other shippers and producers of other commodities.
Am confident that we will work our way through this, biggest fear is over regulation and mistrust of markets.

The railways have been pushing more and more transportable goods onto the public highways for decades.

Nothing other than open rights will cure this problem.

The railways are not interested in moving volume, they want their margins improved on what they can move. By lowering the volume - the better off they are.

Any one with half a brain can see that exports will not decline in Canada in the forseeable future, not just ag products.

And there is plenty of truck freight that could be put back on rail.

Its funny industries are paying for tier 4 engines - yet the tree huggers can't see it would be more efficient to get a few trucks off the road and move the freight by rail.

BTW, as I have said before, HH and claude couldn't be greeters at Walmart with their business strategy.

    2 cents.

Somewhat surprised that Western Grain Elevators Assn has been so quiet, at least in the media or on Agriville.
Keep hearing allegations and innuendo that there is a conspiracy.
Politicians and regulators may believe some of this talk.

You think a conspiracy on Bill C-30 or something bigger?

No, but fear of conspiracy and non-competitive activity can be used to support regulation.
