I agree with both u guys. Heat could hurt a bit but like Tom says genetics are way better and I have seen canola in our area still yield like a bugger even with hot weather. We need the heat to push this crop along anyway. Its gonna be tight to make it at the pace its been on

Absent of moisture stress canola pollen starts to sterilize at 28*c. OP varieties can be even more sensitive. Drought stress and wind start to lower that number as well. This is well documented. I would suggest though that if you are worrying about heat blast on your canola on Aug 3 you have bigger worries.

Exactly my thoughts ado. I would give up yield to make sure it matures quicker at this point. Looks like some cool weather coming August 13 to 19th. Could be some close calls at night.

Very good point ado ..
These warm - not overly hot temps are doing nothing but good in many areas

Sask you did not read correct. He said its in full bloom starting 7 days ago. Here those late fields still in mid full bloom look the best. I cannot explain why. Some will have a good 5 week bloom. Awaiting pods on mine still so slow to come. Early ones all look bad are you saying the early canola is done with the bad so cannot hurt it.
In my opinon we have perfect canola weather here takes 30 plus to do damage and that is not happenning. Or are we looking at the feels like temp here. Actually dug up some potatos and onions today and was surpris d how warm the soil was.

Our late canola will not bloom as long as the early seeded, but, I wonder sometimes if daylight hours has more of an effect. The weather has been great for canola, but some here are concerned about dryness.
The crop in trouble in our area is soybeans. It's the beginning of August and most soy fields have no pods yet.
