    Klause,

The best crop lifter job... is when we can leave them in the storage box!

But they really do help in wheat to catch the broken over heads that are down low.

These things can be application/header specific. Make sure they're the ones that fit your guards....

A macdon header. No lifters used for a few years now.

Bought a new set of black shoemacher/westward lifters for the 30 foot. Still haven't put them on.

Hopefully I don't have too. You can't make back the damage done to the header or combine trying to squeeze everything off the field anyway.

Bucket, I agree, sometimes you have to leave some behind. Whether it is not being picked up or chucked out the back of the combine, I call it tithing to Mother Nature. It especially hurts when She's already taken some on her own....

Am 99 percent likely to use the schumacher ,plus is holding up the cutter bar off the ground. Not digging through ruts but floating over. Klause your peas are standing but remember 2 things. This year yours are not rolled and also its not all as high as your balls. 3rd is ground is likely to stay wet. 1plus 2 plus 3 equals earth tag And dirt in combine. Blendable but. The way I see my crop conditions I will be able to get my greens off in better condition and best grade and faster if I swath. Klause still has one of the better pea crops around. Standing till harvest straight cutting still is yet to be seen.

I may still swath ours. Depends on weather. Yellows don't bleach.... The 722 swather was designed by Richard Kirkby. ... Macdon's chief engineer now... they shave the ground I didn't roll em last yr either had no troubles.seemed like the header cut better without the lifters than with....

Dont know of any new deere headers around here but know of one older one. Worked extremely well to pick up downed peas. Was amazed at the job done. Owner quit using it cause cannot get anything done in a day direct cutting 80 acres for a combine that can do 240 picking up swath. Klause you know the humidity today. Its not going away untill desication and swathing starts. Straight cut peas in 3 or 4 weeks is a noon to 7 pm job.

Worst thing I experience again I hate straight cutti g. Your peas are suddenly 12 percent moisture cause only doing 80 acres a day but you cannot straight cut them or harvest on account of straw damp. The splits will cost deeply. Meanwhile theguy swathing is delivering 0 splits at 20 percent moisture to blend with your 12. Been there done that to deliver that at vitterra or richards Straight cutting is not profitable any time here.

Agreed Hopper. If your going to swath them at least you also stand a better chance of not having to peel them off the ground. It can be awful slow going on a downed pea crop. So far the shitty crop of peas are still standing and even the one better one that lacks the height of other year's crops is still standing. The Raezers we seeded are disturbingly close to having to be desiccated. The Patricks are greener. Both varieties are on the same 1/2 section. Raezers look better, dont have as many sick spots in them either, but are on the higher quarter of the half. A good quarter of Patricks are only about 3 1/2 miles away and had basically the same weather (???????)! Moral os the story..... if they stay standing harvest should be easy and I won't have to worry about them blowing away in the swath-happened before. Pros and cons, pick your poison.
