Every 25 years cycle of war. Google it. If it isn't Ukraine, gaza, Iraq, Syria it'll be China and Japan over those islands. Watch for first economy to implode and they will be aggressors looking for the boogey man that caused it. Heaven forbid they blame themselves for economy going to pot. Putins sanctions are going to affect Obama's allies more then Obama. Could be a cold winter in Europe with no natty flowing. Good thing Fukushima scared everyone into decommisioning the nuc plants. Idk what we are doing sticking our nose into this one? Keep our kids at home and teach them to manage a farm. Enough of the globe will be glowing safe food is only gonna come from a couple places due to jetstream. Where fukushima is ending up is smack dab in the middle of 20k dirt. Sometimes I read too much though.

Interestingly, WW1 started 100 years ago last week. Conflict has been non stop since that implosion of empires. (And before I know)
Geographic regions that see themselves as one culture and one ethnicity haven't really changed the way they do or see things in that time.
I don't believe we who come from an infantile culture of immigrants and self rule grasp this.

The trouble with assholes like Putin and the ISIS thugs is that if you do nothing when they are trampling over their neighbors you have to do alot when they come knocking on your door. There was a guy in the 30's that started by taking just few small patches of "inconsequential" dirt, look how that turned out.

True Ado Hitler had to be stopped. But the reason he gained popularity is because at the end of WWI the french made Germany repay for all the damage done. The debt was unbearable causing hyperinflation. The German economy could pay it. The Jews, who were mostly bankers and accountants, still had money while the German people suffered through poverty. So they became the scapegoat. Lots of things lined up so he could gain power in the first place. Could argue if French terms hadnt been so stiff and German economy was allowed to recover after WWI it wouldnt have allowed Hitler to gain popularity. Putin is old school and figures land mass means economic gain. Guess if I was making decisions would go after the conditions that caused Putin to gain traction in the first place. Read somewhere he compared Obama to playing checkers with a pigeon, knocks all the pieces over shits on the board and flies off. So he doesnt have much respect for the US. Ex KGB versus community planner in a fight?? I ll pick the KGB, this wont end well

Who are you kidding? 12 years in Afghanistan and we got our asses kicked. The American campaign in Iraq is a dismal failure. Libya is a bigger nutcase now than under Kadaffi. And now you want to take on the Bear. With what? We'll huff and puff until we blow your house down? Not the sword to die on, imo. I don't see that Putin went looking for trouble in the Ukraine - it came to him and now he is cornered. An old Russian saying is "better appear to be the villain than show signs of weakness".

He's planting seeds of dissent all through the former Soviet union. When the time comes they'll "ask" for his help.
