Amendments to the Canada Grain Regulations to Impose Firmer Contract Periods

This caught me a bit by surprise so I am posting to see what others know/have heard. Will be interesting to see how the industry reacts and from there changes to contracts.

The contract will read a penalty of $0.00 will be paid. A penalty is only good if it has teeth but the farmer has no power to negotiate this amount. The penalty should be based the whole contract amount using credit card interest rates. 2% per month would be just fine.
