Knowing your cost of production is a good place to start, but once all the monies spent it really doesn't matter because in a sense there is very little you can do after the fact if Mother Nature doesn't co-operate. Sometimes you just know you're at a loss, peas on our farm would be a good example this year.

I agree, urea should be closer to $400 /tonne now or it might pay to wait till spring.

NH3 is down $100 per tonne since May.

43 cents for product now. With $3 corn and $9 canola it should fall more.

Don't see any chance of $400 urea coming out of current wholesale,
Barges at the gulf are trading $358usd/ton.
Are any of the many proposed new plants near start up?

28-0-0 currently at 310 ish , they say going to $330. We don't care, someone will sell it to us at around $300 at the end of Oct when we buy. Some guys hit the button early - we don't, get harvest off then shop, for canola and fert. Always get the same deal as Aug/Sept.

I agree furrow the early guys pay usually the same or more one year!
Maybe on liquid I would have took a bit if I was a Liquid guy! But simply it looks like no one jumped!

Probably a good idea to buy some now and then play the market for the rest.
Best price on 28-0-0 has been JulyAug every year with maybe one exception in 2008.
