The Feds have been gutting Environment Canada for the last 20 years. The radars not only have old outdated and warn out technology, their software came from Radio Shack. At one time there was a weather ship off the coast of B.C. and they were pretty good at 14 day outlooks. Now, down East is a different story.
P.S. Yup, the heavy rains are coming followed by frost. Frost warnings in Alberta from Edmonton south to the U.S. border, east to Sask. Sorry to be so cheery. Should be no shipping issues for the rr's this coming year.

Fire all of them and hire a real computer company who has a track record. We need good information.

CP, snow on the Cowboy Trail south is not unusual for the 1st week of Sept. SDG, you miss the point. The people at EC are quite capable, it's the budget. So, what private firm would come in and take over and not get paid for it? Who pays? Weather forecasting isn't necessarily a money maker. And there are private firms out there you can pay for weather news right now. One smart thing Nixon did was establish the NOAA.

Too few of us, we are NOT considered important. Bethune I said is NOT waterproof! Obvious to the uneducated downtrodden peasants. There now I feel worse, thanks SF3.

Maybe they shud smash there computers and predict the weather the old fashion way like they use to. Seemed to me they were more accurate 25 years ago before they let "technology" take over.
They have changed our forecast about 10 times in the last 48 hours and it pisses me off when I rely on them so I can make better decisions. I shud have been a weather monkey. What other job could u have where your wrong 50% of the time and still keep your job.

It is ****ing ridiculous, this isn't the first time by a long shot. How many times would the "King City" radar be allowed to go down and for how long at a time before it would be repaired? It's Gerry's fault, phone him.

Funny to think if Eisenhower had the weathernetwork on 5/6/44 how different that might have been!
