The real issue with the disappointing jobs numbers in the US and Canada isn't who is unemployed, or a back door attack on Harper, but how the numbers affect the economic outlook and commodity prices.

Cotton is far better at those thoughts than I.

Prices did rally nicely today despite those numbers. Bulls finally had their day.

Way too many young Canadian kids just out of University want and demand $100,000 a year starting and think they should get paid for 8 hrs work and do 6 then have 3 day weekends - in fact fukin near all of them. Can I say Greece??
All of western Canada is screaming for workers - Overseas people filling some of the gap - but no fukin young Candian will work for less than $20/hr to even start a Job - their lazy and all they want to do is fukin text on the job - They are unemployable IMO. The Jobs are there - just no one now wants to start at the bottom and work/earn their way up - they want to start 3/4 of the way up the fukin ladder - and they expect it.

Listened to an interview on CBC last week.
Said Sask and Alta stood out like a sore thumb.
Youth unemployment at 4%. Everyone has a job that wants one.
We keep older workers till they are 70.
Overtime is common to keep things operating.
The CBC reporter asked why not hire more people instead of paying overtime.
Obviously had the outcome of the interview planed. She sounded like a moron with that question.
How many on here have given up looking for employees.

Many great replies on the thread. I have always thought post education is a good idea.Yes we certainly need more tradesman, but we also need young people in the university in certain faculties engineering, sciences, business etc. I also agree with the statement made that not all people belong in post secondary, but they need some kind of training to be able to contribute to the work force.

Your so off base it's ridiculous.
Not quite sure what part of the country your from but you certainly don't speak for the young people I know. I have two children in university, one who currently has a part time job since 16 at the sane grocery store while in university. The other has had summer jobs for minimum wage every summer. I have 5 nieces and nephews all work working from $35000- 60000 a year. I also have 5 nieces and nephews who are in post secondary school. So 12 young people who are ambitious and ready to work in their fields of schooling. Of all the friends may two children have many are working already or still in university or in trade school.

Your perception about our young people is so inaccurate and disrespectful to the youth of Canada . You should get out a little more.

You should come talk to 90% of the employers and business people around here.

Furrow, I don't have much connection to teenagers and 20 year olds any more, but I don't know of one of those that is even close to what you say. All young people I know are busting their butts to get ahead. Lots put off raising a family till they're 30 or more, the fathers as old as 40. My wife and I started our family at 24.

Same here, small town and farms kids, all are working after school, between SIAST/university years. All the son's classmates have jobs/education and are working. There are a lot in oil/gas industry, earning big bucks, some farm also. Ours a journeyman auto tech and the other 4 years with COOP, after 2 years university. He cancelled that idea. Nieces and nephews are have careers/education, one farms after work. Know of no kid jobless at home. Yes they are also very connected lots of "friends" and text, etc. Maybe better work ethic in this area, or my backyarditus.

Here in Western Canada young kids from rural backgrounds have a work ethic...

                      Consider this:

93% of eastern era between 18 and 26 quit the oil patch within 2 weeks.

26% of westerners of the same age quit within 2 weeks.

If you are rural or semi rural you go after work and success. It seems if you are urban not so much... just my observations

I think everyone's observations are accurate based on their individual experience. All of my young relates are employed. Very few have no zip.
Would I place a help wanted ad down east?
                        Not even maybe!

From what I've found working off the farm for 15 years, I would agree that rural prairie young people are hard workers. It would likely depend on the family and the values of the person as well.

A person the same age from Toronto will have a high % of being a useless worker in addition with being very arrogant. (Not always the case but fairly likely)
