cotton . . . Don't want to get too bearish on agriville to offend some viewers, but holy crap the U.S. labour force is in very bad shape.

Just line up at an American grocery store and watching how many food stamps are cashed in front of you.

Maybe a wider division between rich and poor down there as well? The working poor are happy to have a job and at lesser wages.
Wealthy working middle class here skewing expectations? No one left in this country even qualified to 'pick cotton'.
One thing caught my attention, OPP contract states they automatically get a raise to trump if any other civil employee gets one.

Good point fjlip. Samething in MB. Large native population that doesnt count in the unemployment stats, also all those living off generous MB NDP social programs. MB and Sks unemployment stat is highly under reported, yet no one dares say anything.

Unlike the USA, unemployed stats are not measured any different now than they were last year or two years ago, or five or even ten years ago. Native unemployment has likely always been under reported. What's your beef now? Does anyone have information stating the way, in which native unemployment numbers calculated into the mix, has changed at any time recently? IMO, there are way more natives working in the trades, holding down good jobs, and doing good work than ever before, in SESK. Natives are slowly realizing that employers in SASK are not going to be held hostage to only "their" labour pool. SASK has increased the population over 10 percent and were bring in people who want to work from all over the world. Pay is high, and working natives are happy to get cheques many multiple times higher than what they would get on the rez.

Could we just leave native people out of these discussions. If you're not native or part native you haven't walked in their shoes so I doubt many understand.

There are enough WHITE parent basement dwelling, poli-sci grad unemployed video game playing, Justin loving, dope smoking arse holes around to fill out those unemployed numbers.

What took generations or decades to do will take generations and decades to undo. But the hill has been crested and its all down hill from here. Its only going to get better. I like what I see. Participants in society and maintaining/regaining cultural values. Sorry Braveheart. I had to comment on what I think I am seeing, a visible difference!!!!!!

The real issue with the disappointing jobs numbers in the US and Canada isn't who is unemployed, or a back door attack on Harper, but how the numbers affect the economic outlook and commodity prices.

Cotton is far better at those thoughts than I.

Prices did rally nicely today despite those numbers. Bulls finally had their day.

Way too many young Canadian kids just out of University want and demand $100,000 a year starting and think they should get paid for 8 hrs work and do 6 then have 3 day weekends - in fact fukin near all of them. Can I say Greece??
All of western Canada is screaming for workers - Overseas people filling some of the gap - but no fukin young Candian will work for less than $20/hr to even start a Job - their lazy and all they want to do is fukin text on the job - They are unemployable IMO. The Jobs are there - just no one now wants to start at the bottom and work/earn their way up - they want to start 3/4 of the way up the fukin ladder - and they expect it.

Listened to an interview on CBC last week.
Said Sask and Alta stood out like a sore thumb.
Youth unemployment at 4%. Everyone has a job that wants one.
We keep older workers till they are 70.
Overtime is common to keep things operating.
The CBC reporter asked why not hire more people instead of paying overtime.
Obviously had the outcome of the interview planed. She sounded like a moron with that question.
How many on here have given up looking for employees.

Many great replies on the thread. I have always thought post education is a good idea.Yes we certainly need more tradesman, but we also need young people in the university in certain faculties engineering, sciences, business etc. I also agree with the statement made that not all people belong in post secondary, but they need some kind of training to be able to contribute to the work force.

Your so off base it's ridiculous.
Not quite sure what part of the country your from but you certainly don't speak for the young people I know. I have two children in university, one who currently has a part time job since 16 at the sane grocery store while in university. The other has had summer jobs for minimum wage every summer. I have 5 nieces and nephews all work working from $35000- 60000 a year. I also have 5 nieces and nephews who are in post secondary school. So 12 young people who are ambitious and ready to work in their fields of schooling. Of all the friends may two children have many are working already or still in university or in trade school.

Your perception about our young people is so inaccurate and disrespectful to the youth of Canada . You should get out a little more.
