B O O M! The sound of Agricultures door closing!

A year ago I said it was ending and gee it's here a year later! But worse than I even thought it would be!
Problem we live in canada with no support! So thing might get screwed up with subsidies starting in usa an Europe India china again! Canada we will be told sorry fend for your selves we can't help out! Agriculture is a fickle occupation deal with it!
So our inputs will stay high because subsidized people don't deal in the real world!
This crash is gaining speed and all points are being taken out! When frost that's hurt the USA crop doesn't even help you know the zit faces traders are taking this puppy down!
So the next problem will be next spring when guys go in to get their yearly review and calgary or Toronto decision makers go your losing money no operating for you! Or your land is worth shit all your done! Or hang on its going to get real ugly!
So what to do! Well if you were able to get a decent quality crop shop around its worth more than their offering!
Malt barley or food quality wheat or durum it's worth something!
Flax if you pre sold and grew it great its good money!
Canola deliver on contracts you did and wait! They don't just shut down crushers!
But again next springs crop and what to feed that crop!
Over producing really works wink wink! Ha ha
Time will tell but me thinks the wankers are going to nail us and nail us hard!

So let's figure out some answers! I don't want to here how you presold all your crop and had a bin buster bull shit!
All presold but risking all on a crop not grown at 60. Bpa is a recipe for disaster!
How to deal with this crop and survival!

      SF3,

      Sell out.

You are just depreciating your assets... by all your whining. I think you should buy a winery....

Tom so you believe the boom is still on?
How about the shit has hit the fence how do we deal with it!
It's nice you have a great crop! Good for you I would be happy if it happened here but in reality a lot of western canada is not any where near how good your crop is!
So that's the post dealing with what's going to take place! Like I said before have 6 or 8 wrecks in a row and then see how smart you become
Lots of hurt will be happening in western canada the programs in place will do shit all!
Again great you have a bumper but the post is about surviving in the turn down! It's a big turn down and will last years!

Just curious if this is the first time companies have approached you in the fall for seed sales? Or better when play poker, you don't know how to call a bluff? A salesperson's job is to sell. If you're not interested, send them away.

Any one near enough to retire should have QUIT a year ago. The ones here that did hit the jackpot and peak of optimism of the buyers. Lucky/smart them.
Get out next great crop/prices. Not many years to decide.

Charlie it's the same bull shit every year! Funny thing just book whatever you don't get billed till you take! So yes the best are gone!
But the post asks the shit has hit the fan how do we deal with it not tell us to keep feeding the parasites because that has worked so well in the past!

Charlie, yes we are always approached in the fall for seed. We'll Only book if a strong basis goes with the booking.

My experience is there's no such thing as sold out.

Agriculture's door is never closed. Only minds close.

Anyone that built or expanded their business expecting continued high prices/high yields was really over reaching.

That guy that spoke at GrainWorld and said we were in "a new normal" was crazy.

There are a lot of neighbours around me living beyond their means. Maybe that's the "new normal".

Sorry for the ramble. Too much rain.

Freewheat it's going really slow, combine a day and dry grain for a day. Looks like we're sitting and waiting again today. Hope this weather cycle turns better soon.

Once your into a crop for "X" dollars, at what point do you stop spending to protect yield and your investment? Maybe farm saved seed, less fert, cheaper/fewer chems, lower insurance, keep machinery longer, and above all, short change yourself and family with lowering your lifestyle so the rest of the people who are sucking on the Ag tit can continue to enjoy theirs.....

                              Risky business.....
