BTW, absolutely no one on here got my - "what the most valuable thing on the farm" thing back in June - no one. I should have said asset.
A lot of very good responses - but I worded it wrong. And family is still #1 most valuable thing - don't get me wrong, but.....
"Time" for seeding, time for spraying, time for fungicide "timing" - and last harvest time or "time" to harvest - "time" is the most valued forgotten thing to bring you back to family.. think about it..
what's that ole saying - oh yeah - time is money... Money makes the world go around.
Oh yeah - time sitting in a line at an elevator....
That's where Carberry or Muchmore "may" fit for us , may not but we will see, but we gained 20% time and fuel with the same yield and it had better protein at harvest.
Kugler , we gained 30% "time" seeding from not filling as much - time that can not be replaced in Western Canada 90% of the "time" - with out spending a dime on machinery or extra time top dressing.
Enough about father time - be safe at the last of harvest guys. Just food for thought - I had time ....

Sorry to say , but way too many got way too comfortable with the 1 in 50 yr harvests the past four years .
We need a good HRSW that can handle adversity , early maturity , good protien and ease of harvesting to increase "time" of harvest with quality and grade .
Later maturity , tall straw variety's are NFG IMO - even if they are .5 plus protien - even worse with higher fertility

And how in the hell did you save 30% of your seeding time by using Kugler? You still put roughly 70% of your fert thru the air seeder I'm guessing. So you saved 30% each time you filled and I know I spend less the 20% of my total seeding filling. So you saved at most 5%. Just saying...but yes I agree with you. Maximize your time and efficiencies. Especially at seeding and harvest time.

Believe there is an AgCanada-grower-industry meeting today in Winnipeg on our variety registration system.
Be interesting to hear what, if anything, comes out of it.

Unity wheat worked well for us, good yield about 20% off last year.

Low fusarium on sprayed and not sprayed, all #1 or #2 (depends who tested it).
Protein 13-14 (depends who tests it!!!!)

Would like better access to U.S. wheat varieties and less emphasis on Brand Canada.

American varieties are low protein low value wheat. ...

If you want to grow them that's ok. But they should not be cwrs class.

They have a fit but make a new class or lump them all in cps red.

Sometimes seems to be lack of coordination between CFIA which handles registration with Canadian Grain Commission which is in charge of grades and classes.
Simplistic solution would be wipe out the border but that is not going to happen any time soon.
Do think that multinationals who do business on both sides are a step forward even though they sometimes use the border to price discriminate.

A north American solution to prices, reporting, and transportation could clear up a lot of challenges currently crippling the ag industry.

This government is not going to attempt fixing shit. The minister can't issue fines after 5 consecutive weeks of missed targets by CN . Why expect any value on producers behalf.

Do not think another government would be any better.
Canadian nationalism with a touch of anti-Americanism is deeply entrenched in civil service and Ottawa.
Expect many see supporting it as part of their job.
