Bucket is correct the unload sample is what is tested. You cannot carry your 50, 000 dollar precision tool around and expect it to work. I dissagree with you jd. I tend to sell above my grade. If your worried because you pre harvest sell then that is your choice. Dont drag everyone along with you.

Forgot to mention jd your working toward a system that will be corrupt. I take it your going to be on some sort of board to oversee how others are graded and yours durum however ****ed will be 14dollar durum. I dont want it.

For protein I would make one suggestion.
Get a sample, have elevator clean it (properly) then divide the clean sample into two using their borner divider, send one to SGS or CGC get accurate protein test. Now you know they protein of your sample, as it will be exactly the same as the one sent in.

Then everytime you haul check their machine with your check sample, that will tell you if they are reading accurately.

If they are off you can request CGC subject to! Remember that machines are accurate to within ( or -) .2%

Pro should not change with time, My sample is the same as it was 5 years ago checked regularly on my protein machine against CGC certified check samples.

You wouldn't know good durum from a mix of shit and apples hopper.. And no I don't think I will be sitting on any boards and governing what I get. that's not the point. Your durum comment hopper would be like myself commenting on your wheat that I know nothing about. Right now there is a 5.00 a bushel difference between Canadian offers and US offers on the durum I will be selling. You damn right I want to know what I have. The 20,000 investment in equipment is peanuts in the overall picture.

Go to school for rest of your ****ing life.

Kinda like me commenting on soyabeans with someone from southern Manitoba - not relevant.
But some good points here, we were fortunate to be done last Sat so off to S'toon tomorrow with samples to verify grade and protein and go to mills. All our hrsw was #1 here with very low to nill fus so we will see what flour mills need, want, and expect to pay then we have no b/s to deal with localy. Plus have lunch and a beer at the shark club....

Klause there aee special pricing not offered to basis or futures contract holders. So your happy this year it worked. Keep us posted in tbe future. Also if you wish to claim profits from a falling market I suggest that you say exactly when you purchase and sell so we dont follow a practice make believe account. Anyone find 12:50 flax new crop?

Weight and Measures and DOT runs around doing unannounced spot checks. Why couldn't the CGC or 3rd party do the same.

If the Prot. mach is out lock the doors and pull every truck sample and recheck. Open back up after mach is calibrated. Couple guys on the road checking is pretty cheap insurance.

The other thing why isn't there a printer hooked to all prot. machines so we can check for human error and us for cross reference? Just like scale tickets.

                              All,

Just to quickly jump in here - at the Alberta Barley region 5 meeting in Westlock on November 18, we will be hosting a grain grading seminar. If it goes well, and there is interest, we are hoping to do something similar the following March.

For more information on that meeting, click here: http://www.albertabarley.com/events/region-5-meeting-2/

                              Thanks,

                              Cole
