Hopper you said whatever the grade you can sell higher...

How can you sell higher when it grades a #1. There's nothing higher than a #1.

Cash ##1 durum is worth 12 bucks right now.

    How would you sell higher?

Sell for almost double in ND. Spot bid for high end durum was $20-21/bus. With the dollar difference, that's almost $24. I'll pocket the $12 profit. Now if only I had 30k kicking around...

I agree with this quote from above:

The Minister's failure to understand the need for this role is a larger failing than you might think. It means he doesn't appreciate that farmers lack the resources and power to confront the grain companies, which in a dispute often bully the farmer who can't adequately defend himself. It also means he does not understand the nature of business relationships where one party has vastly more knowledge and power than another. In short, he doesn't understand the grain industry and the very reasons the CGC was created in the first place.

As always nobody is fighting for farmers and instead we just take what we can get and are expected to feel lucky about it. Tired of the whole thing. Another example of a whole lot of check offs and no benefits back to us.

You mean our "partners" aren't treating us fairly. I want to comment on Braveheart's abiljty to change partners. Well the railways are almost the only option for shipping and some people feel lucky to have one terminal within reasonable hauling distance. Its not that simple for everyone.

Sorry boys, but I have to be a ****ing prick here. Why are some of you even mentioning US prices for durum? Why it was only a couple years ago all I heard on here was if the f'in Wheat Board was gone are prices would be the same. Guess not enough homework done, before we opened the barn door? Ok ready, argue back.

No I can't argue your logic.

There are a lot of simple things that should have been done. The no brainer things like transparent reporting about sales etc.

I thought they had good advice on how to implement it.

The ag minister didn't listen or act.

I must accept responsibility for cheering on the open market when I should have been watching that the little things got done.

Perfect example is issuing an order in council setting fines within it. And the transport minister won't accept responsibility to act. They hire an enforcement officer.

For **** sakes the minister is the enforcement officer.

Zee where did you see the 20 buck bids? Trucked into minot milling highest bid was 13.12 usd. Right now they are at 12.77

I would have thought that grain that could move south logistically would do so easier.

A north American solution. Some grains move south, others move north. Then east and west.

                    Poorly planned. Poorly implemented.

I raise my hand and accept that responsibility.

Now can the people more involved that Ritz actually listened too accept theirs.

                    Any comment Tom?

Klause, those were mill bids in southern parts of ND, or even further south. Broker I talked to said he had heard $22. But that is elevator to mill. No farmer will see that yet. Freight, etc will eat it up.

Loaded rail 1 15% px was $14-15 today.

Dakota Growers is rejecting more loads than they accept. Damage from vomi. Truck after truck turned back.

For those wondering about arbitrage, you have to make it happen with your truck, or whatever. Hanging out on AgriVille fresh back from the Co-op coffee bar whining "I told you so" won't do it.

Farmaholic, changing partners? Do you have a truck? Rubber does more these days than prevent pregnancies.

                          Braveheart

Nope that's not the way it's supposed to work.

They might as well left the cwb in place. And legislated free permits to haul grain across.

It's the same ****ing distance from minot to the pnw as Weyburn to Vancouver. Driving grain to minot to get a higher price is Idiotic.

I'll drive if that's what it takes. I'd rather be an "overcomer".

But really, that is how it's supposed to work. The market force of a higher price should pull product to where it's needed n'est pas?

Re durum, Mid ND plants are short of quality. Just like oat millers were short of product this spring. Spot cash values are hot. Haven't heard $22.00, but did have a US friend offered $13.00 FOB Carrington, but his trucks were sent home cause vomi.

So, think about it. Mid continent high spot cash. Now everyone thinks arbitrage "magically" makes that the western CA durum price with freight adjusted. It could be your price if you met the specs and fired up the semi though.

If there is a market for durum. Why wouldn't viterra moose jaw load up with good quality durum at 12 bucks and rail it to north dakota. Reduce the truck traffic. Pull the grain and move it more efficiently.

                              Why do something logically. ?

You said rail? Hahahaha. Oh that's funny. Rail to port is bad enough but rail to ND? Hahaha.

Finding the product and risk of rejection after a long truck ride might dissuade most grain cos. But I don't know.
