I used a word I hate to use, "victim". Ya, you can be a victim of someone/something but if you continue to let it happen.....

There are many truthful things said in this forum, some may be hard to swallow for the accused. But for the "otherside" to sit back and continue to let it happen is not the answer. Stand up for yourselves and don't be guilted into thinking it is wrong.

I agree with green machine, the average guy in the grain or input business isnt out to get the farmer, some are but not most. However it is a zero sum game and a dollar in their pocket is a dollar out of your pocket and vice versa. Your grain is worth x on the west coast and its our job ad producers to maximize x-y, y being the differenence between farm gate and world price.

How deft are you bg???? You actually believe that those that work in the industry for a 8-5 paycheck really care about you.. Are you serious???? They ALL care about one thing and one thing only...... Their puny little job... Simply because they weren't , aren't, don't have the courage or work ethic to run a business of their own.. Argue all you want but I have yet to meet anyone in the industry that could even REMOTELY match most modern producers IQ.. These are the morons we are trusting.. Call me arrogant or whatever you want, but I will match brain power with brain power anyday, anyplace, anytime.. The reality remains that those in position to make a difference don't give a shit about you, I, or any farmer in general... They ALL only care about their puny salaries. Not really their fault as all lemmings are taught to follow and obey. Pathetic society we live in don't you think?? As per one of my own local terminal general managers today.. " we can't change anything as our own head office and CGC dictates" ... My response... And you think that's right?? His response... NO but I can't do anything... My response... Have your tried to do anything different?? His response ... NO if I do I could lose my job... DING DING DING ..... We have a winner ..

              Very well said.
Those that think all in the industry care about you Mr farmer explain why on a daily basis I get Emails from Friends or x coworkers that are either moving to a different job or different company or exiting the industry to take a different path.
Its all about the money. Head office makes all decisions and those that are settled into their daily lives don't want to rock the boat so they just do as their told.
Farmers wake up its us against the industry and as long as we lay down and take it, were going to get it every time and trust me its going to get worse before it gets better.
2015 is not a year to have a crop failure in Canada. Our insurance will be so piss poor it wont cover your basic expenses.
Its real easy when a rep shows up be polite and tell them Due to the grain situation from last year with no movement and ridiculous basis levels that took a bumper crop and gave us half of what world prices are we are not able to afford Fert Seed and Chem at todays price. Equipment is easy tell them to take it back to town, thanks it was a nice demo. Their is equipment that was ordered for the boom that is sitting on dealers lots from spring of 2014 that has never been sold. Look around the boom is over prepare for the new reality. Shitty prices and USA and Europe will Ramp up subsidies to their own. Protect the farmer in other countries shit on them in Canada.

Big sensable talk.....but there isn't one in a hundred farmers (probably including yourself) who would have the market dicipline to follow through on even the beginning of your proposals.

                  And as has been said

Don't blame or vent much anger on employees or local dealers. They are equally powerless; and only trained to spew the company line and earthly afraid of sticking their neck out lest their real bosses not agree with their ations or performance.

They don't make decisions; they enforce policy decisions and protect their asses. You want their ass on your mind; or just bring grief to their jobs.

Now wonder why most workers aren't looking to make waves or solve your problems?

But really why should fertilizer be going up. Some one explain. They increased the price by huge margins when our price of grain increased to the new normal. HA HA HA HA HA.
Now were back to reality with our price yet fertilizer has to go up. Oneoff explain don't discuss how I am angry with employees. Explain why fertilizer has to go up.
World price for all commodities grown is in the tank. USA will distort the market as their farmers will get subsidised so yes the reality of real open market is not their. But even a smart USA farmer is not going to shoot for 200 bus corn next year.
So why is fertilizer going up. Just because it can is the answer and if farmers don't buy what the F$%k will they do with all their supply. Yes labour will get their layoff notices or fired. But if farmers quit over producing guess what we take back control.
No other industry in the world keeps over producing to get ahead.
                    F&%K were Stupid.

Fertilizer is going up because they have to dry a record corn crop.

My guess is there will be a shortage of natural gas.

Just saying they have to think of some thing.

Small increases are typically just to get guys buying because there are more coming. If every warehouse agrium has isn't stuffed then there is a problem.

I love it when everyone champions free interprise when times are good and blames everyone when times are bad. This string and entire website is nothing to de with commodity marketing. It's actually pathetic. I don't even come on this thing anymore as I have better more productive ways to spend my time. And the last thing I need to do is to defend my role in the chain to anyone on here. Bunch of garbage.

How did your family obtain their wealth SF3? Did your Dad not own a machinery dealership and sell out? Why do you farm if you hate it so much?

You have noticed that elevators have gone to zero basis in later months right?

Their current price comes off mpls.

                          Straight across with zero basis.

What do you think the cdn price should be?

Currently it is 5.43usd mpls minus 0 basis equals 5.43 cdn.

That's only a 65 cent per bushel foreign exchange theft.

Nothing to see here folks move along.

Sign a zero basis and give them 65 cents a bushel. Why not my left and right nuts, right arm and my farm as well?

Talk marketing? There us no such thing as a market in Canada.

There are ways to stop being a price taker. Go out and do something for your self and quit expecting to just dump stuff in a pit. Spend some time marketing. Less time whining.

That's exactly my point bucket. I don't sit around looking at prices in USA and crying that someone won't hand it to me on a silver platter. Are you businessmen or a socialist who believes it should all be even for everyone.

I just came thru a year that was as good financially as last year was and last year was the best our farm had ever seen. I am sold out of product. Yes I have some advantages in this but none of it is rocket science. Could markets go up from where I sold at? Yup. Do I care? No. Because I have already started working with that cash for next year as I was doing a year ago. Will I get smoked by Mother Nature? Of course at some point. Will it be next year? Pretty likely. Will I whine on here every day about the situation and tell other people that "just wait". "Your droughts coming". Totally pathetic banter. And you guys are doing this day in and day out on here. Really?
