So Oneida explain it's not my dick is bigger than your dick quit comparing it has nothing to do with that it's us farmers against them when are some of. you going to wake up and realize it's us against them it is not this bull shit comparing farms were all in this game! Again like I said my dick is bigger than your dick or your ***** bigger than mine it doesn't matter it's us against them if you think for one second the industry has been fair with us last winter, explain! But here is a example the biggest grain robbery in the history of Canada grain companies made it look like it was all The railways fault in reality they made off like bandits but guys like one off believe that there

is no wrong that the grain companies do us, good farmers have to obey and listen because they are the expert we know nothing! the problem in agriculture in canada for to long competition has disappeared and in reality were all worse off than we use to beans now most need sales to keep the ponzy scheme going! If a farmer can't see how last years bull shit basis And the big crop bill shit was All exaggerated to the point us farmers believed! But let's keep fighting amongst our selves because that works so well!
It's us agains them and without us their F£€ked!

Thing is guys, other than the blip of higher prices that we saw, (well those lucky enough to have crops those years), what has changed? Farming is, was, and always will be difficult. So why after a few short decent years, do we spend our money foolishly, and then get all twisted up? Is it REALLY a surprise to see 4 dollar wheat again? We are not going to change a thing by whining and moaning in our new equipment. To survive, we need to change OUR ways.

I mean really, what choice do we have? We are not going to magically, by whining and snivelling, change the farm scene.

If we are paying 60 70 80 dollar rent for land, where is the gun? If we are buying 1500 an acre land, I ask again, where is the gun? IF we have a new shed full of new machinery, where is the gun? If we spray each crop 17 times, because everyone else is doing it, and it boosts yields by at least a bushel an acre, where is the gun?

No one. I repeat. NO ONE is making us spend our selves out of a profitable situation. Are they? Are the companies making us spend 300 an acre on canola?

As I sit here 20% done, while most on here are done or close, I marvel at the whining.

Look in the mirror, it could be far worse. Pretend you are 20% done, and then come back and complain.

Still have lots of HRSW in the bin from last year. Lower protein but #1. Didn't like price last year so held on. Hope it's worth something this year as quality is the shits with this crop. I know if I take samples in it will be frozen from being in the bin. Lol. Then the fight is ON.

The land is a hard one to swallow for me. I bought well the first go arou.f and got some decent rent but list it. Now I'm looking at needing to fill a gap at something near $70.. if I can find any. I was able to pick up 700ac of organic land for 15% so hopefully it's as awsome as some like to say it is. Beyond that the effing fertilizer is the only cost I'm struggling with. $90/ac to get an average crop is crazy. VR has helped a bit and luckily that's something I can do myself.

why doesn't one of these useless farm checkoffs or apas etc. do a REAL survey on grain carry over ? i dont think there is much , next to nothing in our area from last year . like you said they really got us good this time ! but as long as we keep forward contracting and taking all the risk it will keep happening . we forward price some and win some and lose some .but the minute you sign one of those contracts , those pricks have made their money whether you grow it or not .everyone only tells when they win on those contracts. we sold a lot of canola 2 years ago during seeding for nearly $15 long after all the forward price contacts were filled for $12 , like i said you win some and lose some ,BUT they win on every one . something to be said also for looking in the mirror ,been a lot of money spent on land and iron around here . i have always said "nothing more dangerous than a farmer with money " , i have been farming a long time and can't make any sense out of some of these rent and land prices and that was farmers doing it to farmers !

interesting discussion.... i know it was asked in a few threads ago, why dont people who work in grain industry come on here and "defend their honour". and reading through all of this thread as well as several others is most of you dont have a sniff of how the world works. question for you...Have you ever worked on the other side of the counter?

read a book once talking about self accountability. similar to the mirror theory, when something goes wrong, what can you change or do about it? ask yourself that question before starting to blame others. IF you are honest with yourself, there is always something you can do differently. a lot of you are playing the poor victim card.

the names and accusations that people that work in the Grain and input industries are labelled with in here is absolutely ridiculous. Dont get me wrong not saying every single person on the other side of the desk is a saint, but that is also a product of society in the sense that good hardworking people are hard to find nowadays, I digress.

by and large do you think the guy at the elevator is out to get you? do you think he gets a sticker beside his name cuz he buys your stuff as a #3 instead of a #2? this is laughable. Majority of these people are good honest people just trying to earn a living, same as you, a lot of them would love to farm but didnt have the resources or opportunities or whatever.

Another question for you... you bitch and complain about wide basis levels last winter. Yes they were high, they were also a market signal...DONT SELL YOUR GRAIN CUZ THEY CANT MOVE IT!(did you actually contract anything and have to pay the high basis or are you just bitching about the high number that was posted) so while you were still bitching about basis levels this spring you likely missed the opportunity to lock in a futures on Canola or wheat. Reports were coming out in May that the market was going to start to decline. Did you do anything about it?

i like the comment about "where's the gun?" its fitting because no one is holding a gun to your head to do X or Y, you make your decisions for whatever reason because you want to. not because you have to. are companies going to try and make money, yes of course they are. are they going to make more some years, yes they are. i dont see them bitching and complaining when basis levels are positive...

sorry got rambling there for a minute...want to finish the point about the people on the other side of the counter having to defend their honour...

the reason they dont, is that some of you will never be satisfied. Sun is out, too hot. Canola is $10, need $12. Fert is $400 want $350....a lot of your are nothing more than chronic complainers that are not happy unless you are bitching about something. so why should they defend themselves to you?

Well boys this thread just sums it all up why farmers will never get ahead or be taken seriously.

Farmers will never be able to do business together because everyone seems to have a hate on for everyone else.

Green machine, when head office tells you your bonus relies on your station making 10% more margin than last year and ten minutes later sends out an email telling you to watch for frost, midge, Fuz,chitting, sprouting, ect,ect ect even the the nicest guys turn into ****s. There's absolutely no way wheat can freeze in the bin yet it's happens every time there's a frost. Let's not conflate markets and marketing skill with getting butt ****ed by the gate keeper.

Btw there is a difference between a high basis signaling a hold and grain buyers telling you to book next year's delivery at said basis if you even hope to move grain.

Green machine I get what your saying.. However because I have worked both sides of the counter and also still work outside the farm in the drilling industry I have learnt a few things. Don't get me wrong there are some great people I work with but at the same time NO I do not trust that they have my best interest in mind.. Why would they?? The only interest they have is keeping their job.. Would I say I blame them?? Of course not. If I wasn't as ambitious or had the god given talents I have been blessed with, I likely would have been a lemming as well.
