Harper wants the CWB entirely in private hands before next election so there can be no hint of a whisper of a shadow of it's former self to be resurrected. The details of the sale will be secret until after the next election.
Since the CWB is selling itself, the successful bidder will get all of his 'money' back plus close to $600 million in public and farmer money used to build current assets.
I bid $1.5 gazillion.

Truly amazing process we have; after we all criticized the former CWB, including myself of how the managed our assets, were accountable to process. We now have worse, no involvement, no responsible process, an appointed board with an inkless rubber stamp, theonly noise is that of sheep bleating faintly.

It was far from perfect but so is the current system. The open market was too hastily implemented. No checks and balances put in place, ****ing absolute free for all. Mind you that's what "most" supposedly wanted, "and the real beneficiary is"....?

The cons stated from the start that it would be sold in 5 years so that takes us to 2017.
With the Huge profits "made only in Canada" in grain handling I think an ADM or Louis Drefus, or Bunge to Get more involved in the game here.

And the Cons will continue to tell us how THEY are the only party to support Agriculture When in fact their Record shows Just the opposite. We have Never had an Ag minister do more damage to Western Ag than this homegrown talking mustache.

Cwb in theory should have been good for farmers. But it became corrupt just like 90% of the elevating companies

TAS: Corrupt? No board member got rich, there was no retained earnings, and most of the 75% of staff fired by Ritz can make better money in the private sector. Who profited from misdealing?

From my point of view judging by how quickly Ritz responds publicly in the western producer to his shortcomings he might be recognizing there is a problem but is still too stupid to realize he caused it. Well along with some bad advice . But he was too stupid to talk the average farmer that had a more balanced view.

I always discount opinions of the extremes.

Too many of us thought we could have our cake and eat it.
A farmer owned, government supported entity to compete with established players.
Does not much happen with other trade dependent countries, why do we expect it to be different with Canada?
