it is important that the candidates who are nominated for the political party that you support, reflects your needs and interests and philosophy.

There are many candidate selections underway. And I think it is important that you phone candidates you are interested in supporting and ask them their position on Sharia Law.

The Rule of Law is solid in Canada; is is it ? recently in Britain, the RofL was tossed into the garbage to allow aspects of Sharia Law to nudge it out. The home of the birth of the RofL was outvoted.

Be proactive. Canada is your country. Your wives, in particular, must be vigilant in seeing that they choose candidates who are not going to subjugate them to a chattel status.

It would be a very terrible thing if Sharia law had an influence in Canadian laws.....our women would suffer the consequences.
Our country needs to quit being overly politically correct and keep the barbaric Islamic rules out of this country.

I should mention this: If AV'ers decide to attend your local federal constituency candidate-selection meeting, make sure that you purchase a membership in your political party at least two weeks prior to the nomination meeting. Perhaps even three weeks In some parties, in order to vote. Pars.

Preservation and maintenance of a civil society and a standard of living which we are privileged to enjoy today and with the intent to pass onto our children and grandchildren is vested in achieving a process of governing which is accountable, practical and visionary. Oftentimes that accountability is the result of a process, whereby party members, opposition parties or political structures can debate outcomes; the resulting process rewards candidates better by inclusion and participation. For this reason a parliamentary dictatorship often denies individual candidates the voice that would contribute at a higher level.

Our current parliament, when the Emperor allows that it may be included in his decisions, is most certainly a dictatorship as you have observed wv. Are you voting NDP next time?

In Canada, political platforms are presented prior to Election Day. What I see, most political parties adhere to that platform once elected. In the case of the current govts, both provincial and federal, their platform is adhered to quite rigorously. Both Wall and Harper said what they meant, mean what they say, and both govts, majorities, grind along, passing their platforms. Not surprising, but expected.

Both are managers of their agenda. With styles. Wall is more personable. Harper is more aloof. But both strive to do as they promised electors. Unfortunately for opposition leaders, both men have majority govts.

Opposition leaders have their agendas. Mulcair is strong. Trudeau is exceptionally weak. NDP policy is fairly clear and consistent. Liberal policy changes like a hairdo.

If either opposition leader forms a government, I expect them to work to implement their platform.

That's where I think farmers have some clout. At the local level. Eye to eye with their candidate they build a relationship with, and who knows what you expect.

"This is where farmers have some clout". Parsley in the Real world the farmer has little 'clout' that you speak of with this gov't. Big Business calls the shot ,the grain cos Lobbied for 'marketing freedom and it was handed over at same any transparency at port were eliminated.
"Agricultural Growth Act" was lobbied by chem /seed companies and they Will be rewarded as well. Railroads were let off the hook with a slap on the wrist.

Grain car deal that it cancelled
Ag instability totally screwed
Community pastures so long
Pfra trees gone
Grain commission tampering
Marketing freedom For Grain Cos
High priced seed works for canola and expect it soon for wheat
Oh yes these guys are really supportive of Ag -NOT

Mussy, you don't have to attend a conservative nomination meeting. I was very careful to say a party of your choice.


That is why we are so fortunate. If you are suitably pissed , you have several other options to choose from

For me personally, organic doesn't have seed problems. Nor buy back problems anymore. Farmers were busy bulldozing out all the shelter belts on the farms they have been buying! And I got evergreen seedlings from Shand at Estevan a few years back. And farmers have the choice to bid on community pastures, which now presents the young guys a land base to buy from.

So my needs are mostly met. But choose another party of you are dissatisfied. But I do think farmers need to stay involved with decision makers. You won't get everything you want? But you won't end up with everything somebody else wanted. There are 40k farmers in asks and huge exports. You are valuable. Don't whine like a victim. You are a very important wealth creator who is needed. Pars.

Pars, you miss the point. Mustardman is being very logical and I assume he DOES vote for the party which most promotes his interests. He asks why do so many farmers vote against self interest. The party in power has cost us each on average tens of thousands of dollars a year and has made us have to work harder. Most farmers may vote for them again further eroding their own power( seeds next). Why?
