Negotiation is fine when both parties live up to what they said they were going to do. In the case of MCOOL, America did not. They were told by the WTO to fix it, and they made it worse. All the while stalling and extending the damage.

The tariffs are targeted at products produced in areas controlled by some of the most powerful elected officials. That's why it seems odd that some things are included.

The days for negotiation on this are long gone.

How many phony trade restrictions by our many 'partners' can u think of in less than a minute??
How many of those buy raw materials or whole projects (China) here?? There is risk in belligerency on our part. But enough is enough!

The CWB that exists (with changes over the years) was started in 1930's.
Was made single desk buyer during second world war, in part to help Britain and war effort.
Can understand why many are fed up with protectionism tolerated and even encouraged by US politicians.
Just wish there was a solution other than the same kind of protectionism from our own politicians.
