We had less risk going with the bin run seed and the $40 acre savings on seed.
I was a bit nervous as I had over 600 acres seeded and I had people telling me I was crazy to seed it and the best thing I could do was put the seed into a hole and burn it.
I was not expecting it to yield as good as it did compared to the hybred varieties.
I was thinking of it as a total different crop type like mustard or something.
A nabour had some L150 that yielded 55 bu acre and it was all seeded on summerfollow.
I don't think the 46A76 would have the potential to yield 50 in our area but it is still profitable and we will most likely seed 400 to 500 acres of it again next year on some land where we will not seed lentils.
I am thinking of trying some L150 in 2015 as well and if we get the seed soon there could be some good $ savings.
