Been a long time since we used it over 30 years ago. Back then using it on black summerfallow when planting wheat. Very good controle. Stubble is a different animal. Was thinking on canola stubble and maybe a half section of pea stubble. Currently have a nice harrow pass on these fields. Maybe granular is better. Anyone using liquid on stubble? Sure makes application easier.

granular way better on stubble straw will tie up liquid. We have done lots on canola stubble followed by 2 passes with heavy harrows different directions with excellent results. No tillage just the 2 harrow passes.

Hopper bgm is right. If u got lots of trash use granular. I agree more of a pain in the ass. I like using liquid aswell but nothing worse than spending a pile of money and then seeing wildoats get away anyhow. Depending on how it warms up u may not get as good of control that early to. We have done it with mixed results.

A Vader or edge use granular on your fields. No way liquid would work with the trash you have.

Avenge is the one I was thinking of the other night when I was over there.... worked for us the one time we used it. Blairs can get it through grow.

Never looked up canary for nutrient response curves but if it's anything like oats around here don't waste your time growing it without 30 lbs of K

Did you use the avenge on canary klause? Worried about damage. I was intent to use 30 lbs of potash Some local use here confirming to use it. Wondering what others use. Liquid avadex is out, my canola stubble has a complete even covering of chaff and straw right now so unless I blacken it with a limken spray liquid then harrow once. Can a person spread granular now and harrow in spring?

Ya. That's what we used. Doesn't seem hard on canary at all.

                  Balanced nutrition is important.

You need to harrow it right away... just rent that phoenix valmar thingy from horizon. Could do lots in a hurry.

Regarding the K. Many studies show it is the Cl in the Potash that enhances canary yields. Kind of an interesting fact.

I never found Avenge to be hard on the crop, it is just that it is hard to get, and it is such a strange window.

You guys need to google avadex and its use. There is a lot of information that states that the less tillage, harrowing, etc. the better the control, IF APPLIED IN THE FALL.

Do not go by the chemical book suggestions, they are not really up to date. Many studies have been done where the less disturbance the better, esp. under a zero till regime for several years. I am not going to get mine on this fall. Still snow and pathetic highs. Today for example our high is -1. Saskatoon is plus 8. Stupid!

That's true free wheat but it still needs to hit dirt.

Avadex won't work if it is on trash... which is hoppers problem...

Kinda funny how these old chems (avadex edge etc) are making a comeback eh?
