How much durum should be left in farmers bins by next spring given the current prices and demand pull for it???

How about the quality off seed that will be available and at what price?

Good question. Western canada probably needs close to 250000 tonnes for seed next year.

Given quality and demand pull it would be a good idea to get your durum seed early.

It would be nice if 2015 durum prices were available to make some decisions.

No 5 durum= seed durum. 4 or better sell to elevator. No problem with seed supply.

Is it ok to use seed durum that had fuzarium in it.?? can you treat the seed to kill it??

New guy, try proseed. I think you can send seed to lab and have it treated with proseed and then tested for fuz, I think it works.

You'll note the double asterisk on the Proceed specs. Its for certified seed only. And any "improvement guarantee" concerning fusarium is tied to applying other fungicides in combination. And commercial application only.

So no; I don't think they are meaning for farmers to treat #5 fuzzy durum for next years seed supplies. Lots of obstacles and as the other thread reports; there is no long (or short) term intent to let any ordinary farmer get access to Proseed or any other seed treatment that even theoretically could "improve" anything to do with fusarium in near useless "feed grain".

Neighbor said he had his seed checked already and the seed lab doesn't recommend any seed over x amount (can't remember the exact number)of fuzz to be used for seed. His germ was under 80 and vigor under 60 anyway so he is looking for seed.
