what canola basis is working these days?

Never did any pre harvest so late to the party. Did a 0 basis for 75 percent of production off jan for last half of nov del. Some pretty much better basis levels happennig in other area. How are you guys doing in alberta?

The best I could negotiate local on new crop jan was 20 under. So seed perchases still on hold. My dad would have a very simple solution. Summerfallow.

Ha ha. You will buy canola seed. Everyone talks like the won't buy seed and they are all huffy about the prices.
In the end, KTEL marketing strategies like, " hurry, act now" , or "Limited time offer " are extremely effective.
In December, zWhen you stroke the check for your canola seed just remember the K-TEL logo flashing across the television screen.
Farmers need canola for cash flow. They need to plant over 40% of their entire farm to canola.

Paterson has the best basis I can find in south east Alberta. Richardson widens theirs every time the futures goes up a bit

elevators around here don't want to hit $10/bu so they keep adjusting basis accordingly

Nov at $452.90 w/o any basis is $10.27. But is anyone using Nov right now?

So besides them widening the basis off the Nov contract, some aren't even using it and trading off Jan.

Today's Nov futures prices makes the "SPECIALS" offered two weeks ago look pretty lame. Suddenly the specials don't look so special anymore, so do they save face by adjusting basis and choosing which month to trade off to keep prices in line with specials?

Funny how "specials" a lot of times precede rallies... LOL.

We have a basis only contract off the November for October delivery. They flipped it to jan and took off 10 dollars on the baisis. Thats to a crusher.

SF3, so if you had a $0.00 basis is it now minus $10.00 basis or a positive ten dollars? According to the contract you signed, can they arbitrarily flip you to Jan when there is time left in Nov?
