I don't know about everyone else's seed people, but I've picked up treated seed at Richardsons, and if those workers are what Croplife would call "accredited", the health of the planet is definitely threatened.

The second observation points to a future set of regulations that will evolve shortly after the imlementation and enforcement of the comercial industry that created those paper bags containing that same seed treatment chemical.

The good part is that we are free to not use any seed treatments. For years we never used any (seed treatment) with results that had more to do with the weather than anything else. I can live without it.

Maybe we could start a new ip stream of grain grown without seed treatments. We could sell it to A & W for their vegetarian chickens to eat. At least lets get that pudgy little A & W guy to advertise for us.

I would gladly run my seed to someone if it wasn't a pain and time consuming. Plus I don't like putting treated seed in my bins or trucks. Or saving it.

Nothing good coming of this kind of bullshit. Just higher input costs.

I don't understand where the call for this regulation comes from. Is there rampant abuse of the system? Are these products entering the food chain? In my experiance the answer is an emphatic NO.

So what is the real reason for this bureaucratic ball and chain???

When you read the "ip contract" for that vegetarian chicken feed; you will find that lack of seed treatments is only the first of a long list of agricultural chemicals, herbicides and pesticides that you just forfeited if you want into that potential market.

As well as any "photosanitary" or other particular concern of those end customers this is designed to appeal to.

Seed treatments end up in or on the soils. Not sure if a small spill occurs there should even be an issue.

At the cost of treatments can't imagine anyone not taking extra care while treating.

Coleville, it is likely an extension of the new business school thinking. You know, "add value", "another revenue stream", "billable hours", "up sell the customer" and the like.

I'd like to turn it and apply those principles to our farms.
