Don't forget that one of the most important reasons for owning land is that our farming culture, our Canadian culture, our provincial culture, all of them, need a land base to continues being Canadian. Without land, property, we will be like the Jews hunting for a home.

Teaching your children the cultural value of land is the best thing you can do for the next generations' future. Pars.

Because of investors young farmers are farming big and have now started to buy up land themselves. The next generation of farmers want all the bells and whistles right away. So renting has fit their operations well.

Not using that as an excuse. Why rent from a land investor, so they can make 7-8% return on there investment. Problem is that us stupid farmers will fight over wanting more land and pay them what they want and more. And yes the locals that pay those big dollars are a little nuts to. Don't see those numbers in our area yet. We are at the 1200-1500 an acre here.

Everyone should be open to the possibility of land hitting infinite value.

So does fcc loan me money for that infinite value?

              Maybe I should deal there.

Klause if you did not have the Investment company to purchase possibly your payments would be at todays rent price if you bought. I guess I am past that so past is past. Today land is higher priced. Now what? Those 18 dollar 50 bushel green peas A year ago. Those guys.

Tstep, investors want 5% usually. Never heard of 8 and work with a few of them.

Hopper, that's fine and dandy but we didn't have enough cash to put down to buy that much at once.... We will keep renting and building equity. If we have cash and a decent deal comes along we will buy.

cottonpicken, Dad told me a story of how his Dad purchased 0.5 ha in Germany in the early 30s with 3 carts full of paper currency that he got earlier that day from selling their year's potato crop. Hyperinflation is scary.
