Robinson farm to Grassfarmer sounds like a Scot to Scot transaction?
I'm going to Scotland next summer. My family can be traced to Kirktan of Tough and my wife's clan has a castle at Inveraray.

Its a southern Scot buying from a northern Englishman - we've probably more in common with each other than you hairy assed highlanders lol.
Scotland is a nice place to visit but I couldn't live there now.

Grassfarmer, Why the move? Crystalizing property value gains? Won't the climate be a bit harsher? Better cattle country?
Anyone who can pull up stakes and move to another part of the world and then move again is an adventurous soul. How old were you came to Canada? I hope you find what your looking for(opportunity) and best of luck at your new home.

Klause, no offence taken by our previous discussions. I have an admiration for young go-getters like you and freewheat. You're out of the box thinkers like me.
Farmaholic,
A combination of things - opportunity to capitalize on over inflated land values (again), opportunity to expand, dissatisfaction with an AB Government that has a communist view of property rights, reckless energy sector development.
As a parting shot the political party (WRP) that looked like it might change things up here just committed suicide on the weekend.
The climate won't be as extreme as where we are in AB I don't think. It'll average a little cooler in winter but without the wild swings and quite a bit warmer in summer. The early/late frost, late spring snow events and hail will be less than we get closer to the mountains. There will likely be some downsides that we discover in time - there usually is, but you deal with them.
I was 34 when I moved to Canada, been 14 years in AB.
