        A combination of things - opportunity to capitalize on over inflated land values (again), opportunity to expand, dissatisfaction with an AB Government that has a communist view of property rights, reckless energy sector development.
        As a parting shot the political party (WRP) that looked like it might change things up here just committed suicide on the weekend.

        The climate won't be as extreme as where we are in AB I don't think. It'll average a little cooler in winter but without the wild swings and quite a bit warmer in summer. The early/late frost, late spring snow events and hail will be less than we get closer to the mountains. There will likely be some downsides that we discover in time - there usually is, but you deal with them.

        I was 34 when I moved to Canada, been 14 years in AB.

          Rent is likely $65 . To buy I'm guessing $3,000. BTO buys or rents everything that comes available. You'd have better luck in Athabasca but it sounds like new money just rolled in there.

            Ill be quitting in about 8 years, you can buy the land we farm. Likely averaging $30,000 now, I'm sure it will be double that by then or covered by houses or industrial. Progress.

                    Because I don't own the land. Edmonton/Fort Saskatchewan heavy industry. Losing 75 acres/year.
