    Then why are politicians involved?

They made no big deal out of the CPP buying farmland and the government is involved.

    It's the optics.

Optics for whom? If you said CPP on the world stage they'd say who? what?

The optics of a govt delegation leading business people into a major consumer market, suddenly the world takes notice. Canada appears open for business.

As a canola producer I'm more interested in how much new business is this, and will it substantially add to dispositions.

Government involvement in these business dealings.

Interesting, we as farmers, are to have no government help but everyone between the farmgate and the enduser needs government help whether its something as simple as the introductions or the photo op for a new plant that never gets built.

Add that to my list of the open market crap.

        6. Instead of building the pasta plant Katib gets on the CTA review????

Oh and BTW, since the government wants some PR about canola oil, how about buying canola based on oil content.

Seems like an easy thing to implement, right???

Government buying farmland sends a message of being open for business as well?????????

          Wasn't that mother russia's plan????

Buy on oil content. Buy on dry matter so nuts out there quit adding water to canola before selling.
Don't whisper on the internet about it. Tell your canola orgs to lobby for it.

What did Katib do wrong to get punished by that appointment? Must have been real bad.

I think Mother Russia just took it.

Farmland ownership rules are under provincial jurisdiction. The rules need updating. CPP did it because they could.

I am just pointing out that maybe Katib should have finished the job he made a public service announcement about.

He probably is a good appointment for the CTA review.

But the pasta plant might have been a good project to finish as well.

Maybe the PSA about a condo owner buying canola oil has the same fate? All talk and brown paper bags.

ANd I have asked my MPs about the canola oil content. No answer. But with the check offs and the people involved on different canola groups, you would think if they had farmers interests they wouldn't need some dumb**** farmer like me asking or lobbying for it by some abscure email once in a while?

There is alot wrong with politicians and others making deals and statements that never get followed through on.

CPP bought it no doubt, with others money and essentially bid out a generation.

It continues the trend of aging out farmers. Its short sighted.

But have at it. Teach kids at the farm operators course how to run machinery for eight hours a day. Let's see how that works out.

Sent email to Ritz, asked how is the oil going to get to China?
Due to" A complete **** up on rail service.",

Ritz's policy people haven't returned my calls for over 8 months.

My recent letter to my MP came back with more questions than answers.

What happened to private enterprise? Good point Agrivillers. I don't see any "supporters" stepping up to the mic to answer for government. What's wrong Tom, cat got your tongue?

                            This was only private enterprise.

It's becoming clear that all of you that don't trust trade deals, grain cos, input suppliers, etc, etc, really just don't trust yourselves.
