Just because peanuts or gluten or lactose or certain drugs are not tolerated by a certain fraction of people....does not make those medicines or foods anywhere akin to a "poison"; except to those who are perculiarly affected.

They are a problem to those who are unfortunately not able to tolerate them; but don't be highlighting a minorities intolerances in the same breath as insinuating or not making it clear that only a relative minority are in any way affected at all.

Only if the agenda is to deprive conventional cereal grain producers of any and providing more ammunition forA&W propagandist types to shape what will be tolerated in "healthy" foodstuffs.

Damn it oneoff, I agree with every sentence you wrote. No fun in that, now I have to go find another pot to stir ;-)

In schools and such, why is it the problem of the parents who DON'T have the kids with food allergies. Peanut butter, gluten, fish, milk, my goodness what do you put in your kid's lunch box if the school has afew(or less) kids out of hundreds with food allergies. Don't eat it if you can't tolerate it and the schools have passed the burden on to the majority because they don't want to be resposible for little Johnny or little Mary eating something they're not supposed to and have been warned about. Once again personal responsibility is becomes everyone else's problem.

I was listening for the laugh track... never heard it. CBC guy did seeme to be a bit amused by it....but they chose to give it air time and not put the issue into perspective. Bill O'Riellly of Fox News was on a similair kinda anti-wheat kick as well a while back.
          Interesting....

Before I get pounced on I am sympathetic to those who are intolerant to wheat.

              And so am I sympathetic.

But there are so many potential allergens; sensitivities, diseases, handicaps and special circumstances; that to single out any as warranting special treatment .....is not fair to any of the other minorities...let alone the ones who have additional responsibility added to their own lives.

Is there appropriate adequate reciprocal sympathy?

                Just wondering!
Has there ever been tests done where gluten intolerant people are fed pure straight raw wheat no bleaches, preservatives or additives? Maybe even conventional verses organic. Grab a few handfuls out of the bin and boil it up or fry it to see if they still get sick.

I have a sister who swears she is wheat intolerant. Got tested, and it was a negative, but she still swears so. She was never sick, no symptoms ever. Any doctor worth his salt will tell you that other than a VERY tiny number of folks who ACTUALLY have intolerance, it is an enormous fad.

My sister wants us all to get tested. Her hubby must now eat her crappy food. If she visits, you can't even use a knife that cut bread in the sme room as her fancy dancy garbage food prep.

If wheat is proven to make you sick, you have my sympathy. But if you are doing it for giggles, and have no reason to skip the wheat, because society treats wheat like it does global warming these days?

                  No sympathy.

One of my wife's friends is gluten intollerant... was tested actually has Celliac's.

Claims that if her soybeans even touch wheat she gets sick.

Then, I pointed out that her beans are harvested wit the same combine, hauled in the same truck, run through the same elevators and bins as wheat is.

Now, she won't eat soybeans any more, or any other grain for that matter... Yuppies....

You can't argue with the feed conversion of a cricket.

Now I wonder if that cricket ate wheat?......
