    Ritchie Bros

Ritchie Bros set to have the largest 2014 auction tomorrow in Saskatoon. Most people think there are rougher times ahead. The last 2 Ritchie sale wouldn't tell you that. Lower returns in 2014 - cold weather, granted easy to buy online. Any guesses on the direction of prices at tomorrows sale??

Maybe just a quicker falloff on age/hrs.
Maybe now lower than current guide on that category.

Does anybody really know where all this Machinery comes from? There is so much of it, all newer and big and nice stuff. That has always kind of been a puzzle to me.
I am thinking dealership inventory sell off?

You would have to fire salesmen when it got to that point.

WTF why have a bunch of guys in house not searching to move equipment. I have phoned them different times without a return call.

bought a sprayer there there year that JD had taken in, there was this big work order in the sprayer things like change all the fluids , put winterizing fluid in it etc etc, they put the winterizing fluid in it alright, just in the rinse tank and didnt run a cycle, I ended up changing 1500 bucks in plastic this spring and the fluids were not changed as they indicated the wheel motor oil was black when we "rechanged " it this spring. So be aware what they say on the work orders may not line up with what they did in the shop.

As far as prices newer stuff may hold as the dollar has really pushed up new stuff from the USA factories.

Talked to the JayDee rep that consigned a bunch of stuff to this sale. What he told me was any tractor that is not green sits on their lot to let potential buyers it's there, but sell it off because they don't want other coloured tractors in their area.

My response was most people offload garbage they can't make $ on after an expensive repair. His response was it would consistently did that people wouldn't touch certain dealers used stuff.

Makes sense why some dealers use auctions. Farmers phone the dealer that listed it, finds out what the cash price was, and subsequently buys it at the sale within a $1,000 of cash. Off the lot and no warranty or headache to worry about.

Watch your balance sheets before and after this one. I'm guessing avg 10-20% off "normal", and a lot of "boy that's was cheap" talk....since we're asked to guess. Lots of nervousness out there. Dunno how it can even go sideways....
Might be the sale I kick my self in the ass over to

Maybe there's more Green equipment in general used by farms but it sure seems the recent sales have a large amount of Green equipment.

Other than those 2 really nice floaters, not much for red, yellow or Orange/Red (Massey)

I am thinking the same John Deere must sell far more stuff than the others.

Nothing scientific about my survey but just driving around SK there seems to be a LOT of really shiny inventory sitting on dealer lots. As Yoda says "Hard to predict is the future" but it could be a really smart move to turn some of that inventory into cash now rather than later.
