The equipment market has changed, adapt.

It started to transform when the Canadian buck was a premium to the USA standard. Canadian could finally get deal ( better than they were used to) and import used everything.

Dealers started to offer the "auction book value " for trades. This is when RB and other auctions started to flourish. At the same time - in general - the ag economy was booming.

The Canadian buck is now discounted to the USA , ag business farming, equipment, etc, must focus on cash flow.
The dealer consolidation will continue, auctions will continue, until technology allows equipment to operate on its own ( autonomous tractors, un manned sprayers that are 4 feet wide spraying at night etc, etc)
Do what you have to today, for short or medium term needs, long term it's going to be much different. Remember when you actually steered the tractor- all day every day, or didn't have a cell phone?

Yes I remember. But some guys are addicted to paint autonomous or not.

Most don't realize it's just a different decal or cowling.

Had a conversation with a Jay Dee sales manager yesterday and you are all correct, he admitted trade values are based on RB auction results/estimates. RB must have an army of high paid accountants so they always make the guaranteed selling prices and profit! And on speed dial at dealerships.
Then if you want a used item, dealer will add an estimate for repairs/support costs to that number and try price accordingly. Plus several inspection/warranty options. They never want to lose money on your deal either.

Guessing but a lot of guys are machined right up so demand could get tight quick, maybe to obvious.

Dealerships took a serious haircut on Tuesday. Even on 1 year old stuff.

Remember what we're always told? The "market" is always right.

I thought with a lower dollar these dealers would be empty.

Much like when we were at par and farmers went to the states to buy because locals were too high. I thought Americans would come north for deals.

There should be some money coming dealerships boo hoo worse than farmers to politicians.

An election on the horizon, a stale farm economy, time for Producer's to distribute the "subsidy"?

But its not a subsidy. Its time, once again , to distribute the wealth.

Farmers are better at it than anyone else.

Bucket- go onto the ritchie bros website and check out the price of the "unused" 40 foot Case airdrill with tank that sold.
At $80,000......that could be why they are scared of trade ins.

This unit would of been built in Saskatoon on 71st street at the CNH plant so I'm not sure if the material and labour would of been less than $80,000......
