There was nothing wrong with WIT success.

P&H saw a window to make a pennies on the dollar bid and they got it.

The problem was with the owners and selling out.

Less competition in that area now.

If the cwb partners with a major it doesn't create competition it lessen it.

ADM has a foot print in canada already.

That is not additional competition.

A Grass Roots company would provide competition.

A don't sell yourselves short. Farmers have financed more of this industry than we realize. We do have market strength but not the way we are going about it now. Why? Because politicians keep us purposely divided. NFU vs wcwga is an easy divide and conquer. And the leaders of both are too stupid to realize they are the fiddle strings.

For instance Ritz thinks he is doing his job by writing to the western producer every second week responding to Wells or kyle.

And another organization cheers him on.

This has nothing to do with what farmers want for the future of the CWB, weather it remains as an independent private company, be partnered with another player, of sold out right.

This is strictly, PM Harper making the decision on the future of the CWB. When Harper was the leader of the National Citizens Colation in the 1990's, he was continuity fighting against the CWB as the farmers marketing agent. Harper got paid to this, and it was one of his main focuses when there. This was the only true job Harper ever held besides politics (forget about the mail room clerk position in an oil company).

This is all part of Harper's ideology. Harper never want's the CWB to have the chance to resurrect in any way shape or form when he loses power, as it would haunt him forever. Harper doesn't give a hoot on the future of the CWB or how it could serve the best interests of farmers, plain and simple.

Ritz is nothing more than his puppet front man, who is incapable of even running an ostrich farm let alone be an Ag Minister.

The smart money is on ADM

An interesting note is that former Prime minister Brian Mulroney sat on the Board of ADM from 1997 to 2010. Dwayne Andreas of ADM said that "having Mulroney on the board of would pay great dividends to ADM shareholders". ADM is rumored to be one of the proposed purchasers of the CWB. Indeed it has paid great dividends.

While Harper publicly distances himself from Mulroney, Mulroney has been a recent guest speaker for Peter McKay and appeared at a fund raiser to pay for Del Mastro's (election fraud) legal fees.

Harper has transferred an multi Billion dollar industry to the trans national grain companies. Just follow the money here

Aha lets take a step back everyone and think about this. 5 dollars per ton delivered goes to shares. So if adm or canamarra or who ever does purchase the cwb farmers will still be able to gain shares that they can keep or sell at any time. Sorta makes sense to me. A private corp like jri would be out of the picture here. And someone publicly traded like adm or canamarra who does not currently purchase all grains would be in and still provide competition.

Now if everyone remains stepped back for a minute. And hear my other opinion. This is better than complete farmer ownership and control. These large corps do have a lot of business savy to be complementary. Remember the cwb is still small in the complete world scale of things. I would be happy with 5 dollars per ton in shares.

Seems to me the CWB was already farmer controlled for a brief failed experiment.

A farmer owned CWB would end up like SWP. FUBAR.

This talk is really about the Agri Left trying to build some big lobby group to try to steer policy their way.

Federated Coop or CHS are the only true managers that deserve CWB assets.

"U.S. farm co-operative CHS Inc. said Monday it has signed a deal to buy 16 retail locations in Canada from Agrium Inc.

Financial terms of the agreement were not immediately available.

CHS said the operations, which are in Alberta and Saskatchewan, will become part of its Country Operations division.

The locations will be able to take advantage of a new fertilizer plant outside Shelby, Mont., the company said.

The sale is expected to be completed on or about April 1.

In addition to its retail business in North America, South America and Australia, Agrium is also a wholesale producer and seller of crop nutrients and specialty fertilizers."

With the new 3B Fert plant going in ND... it would be a great asset for Canadian grain growers... to have CHS involved.
