    Harvesting this Weekend

    Did anyone get any harvesting done this weekend? Looks like eastern Sask and Manitoba did nothing. No heavy rain to speak of, just drizzly, dull, typical fall days.

    West Man and East Sask where there is some quantity in the fields, have NO quality. And there is probably 40-50% still out there. Forecast for the week looks no better. I will have all the rainy day jobs done soon!

    Anyone care to take a guess if the harvest lows are in for prices? I think we are getting close here, but US harvest spill-over pressure could keep us subdued for a month or more yet. And then there is that damn west coast labor situation. Seems like some high paid workers need a reality check.

    Hi Kasro,

    The Combine on our farm made three rounds around a quarter section field on Sat. morning, that's it.

    Was able to seed 150 acres of winter wheat between drizzles/showers.

    But you can't seed in the rain either.

    I'm applying anhydrous with mid-row banders with the seed and even if a few little spits happen the anhydrous want to adheare to the nearest moisture and when it's drizzly out that's in the air and I have a big fog happening behind the tractor.

    The feild I'm seeding is so full of moisture that when I go out to take a leak, the puddle stays for 15 minutes.

    It's seeding well though, as long as the surface is relativly dry. But that hasn't been to often in the last week.

    Funny thing about winter wheat in MB, Sept. 15th is a 360 hour day.

      Kasro;

      I understand a big part of the Peace River country got 2.5" on top of thin swaths on the weekend... much was swathed to cure out second growth...

      Big AB. frost last night this morning minus 5 in most areas, will cook second growth... reck germs...

      Malt is toast...

      This means every area in western Canada has now had a disaster....
