I agree freeewheat We were paying 5 bucks a lb for 2573 in 2004, pulling off 40-50bu/ac and doing a way worse job of farming compared now to now and applying less fertilizer. I dont think todays genetics are worse but they certainly are not 30 percent better.

Don't worry after the cons give the chem companies control of our cereal crops they will look after us and only charge a fair price. LOL

Mustard, these companies need to be better compensated for supplying genetics derived from years of public research and breeding.

Down to 1 quarter of canola. Screw this stupidity.

That 1 quarter is booked to L252 right now. However, I may cancel it and go with Synergy.

            13 a lb vs. 3.50... HMMMMMMM....

On this farm peas and oats have by far given us the best return... wheat next, canola last.

Problem with canola is you need 30 bu/ac for breakeven. Then you have a year like 2014 where you get 12 or 18...

Hopper, are you sure that price is right? if you book at the same place in Humboldt I did my price was better on the Liberty stuff I think.

I believe it is same place. Thought it was supposed to be fall price still availl today. I guess they are soaking me. Payment end june. I suppose the 50 cent divident payment wont even come close to the over payment. Just wait these seed prices will come down.

Bgmb I dont want to spend the time scouting for cutworm added to chemical is application cost plus the fact I typically have a cutworm damage before I notice a problem. Lubriderm does work.

Hopper you are paying about 3 bucks a lb more than me partially because you arent shopping around enough and partially because you choose not to take the time to scout your fields. So at 5lb/ac that's 15 bucks an acre.

I agree canola seed price is insane and it is even more insane that you would bay 8-10 bucks an acre on all your canola acres because you might have cut worms. Its going to be hard for you to make it through lean years.
