Whereas we used to have the control as farmers, they do now, more than ever. I actually wonder how much of this is even real, and how much of it is a set-up?

Dang, I do not want to be complaining and whining. I try to avoid it as best I can, but right now I am choked...

Canola Pricing, is it because it won't/can't go higher than $10 or they won't let it? Are the futures markets really working with all the producer contract options being presented and used?

Did you find a $10 spot price or willing to take what's offered at the "moment"?

Why is it when a farmer vents or shows frustration with a situation its called whining? What a stereotypical comment freewheat.

Farmahoic I hear you. I just try to avoid anger and complaining, because all in all I am a pretty happy guy. But I am a young guy who is caught in the old fashioned times. Kinda in denial of it all. If this is the new normal, I am building 20 miles of fences...

farmaholic, as canola has been creeping up, I have been watching happily. I am not a "has to be ten bucks kind of guy". I am happy with 9.80 or whatever. I historically price some crop for fall, then ride along and sell into what I would say are comfortable prices to meet cash flow needs.

I just have never had this issue where I can't even find a home for CANOLA of all things.

A lot of wheat was dumped a $6 or less and Canola at $9.5 to $10 since mid Dec. The pressure of payments is trumping "control"
Elevators in drivers seat again till MAY/June/July time. Just look at basis levels. IMO take out cash advance and wait er out. When this flush of dumped grain is gone the cupboards will be closer to bare.

A couple nice weeks of weather and it might happen sooner.

The railways talk tough but if they can move it to show up the government and graincos they will.

Eventually the graincos will be called to task. Then the real shit will hit the fan.

Soft exports to China combined with substantial carry over and and farmer needs for cash over the next three months will keep canola supplies adequate until seeding time so this is not unexpected. Lots has been contracted in January the last few years to defer tax as well.

Hope you find a delivery option Free wheat. I hear your frustration. You know I was thinking you have mentioned a couple times when you went to university. I think we were there at the same time actually. Might have been buds who knows.. I never finished the diploma was too flat broke to even buy ichiban by the end of year 2. So I ended up quitting.
