I see new crop bids of $12.50 plus. Haven't grown it in years. Whats the best variety to grow now and where can you get seed? Tempting to give it another try.

Better price than what I sold mine for. Prepriced some last year for $11.50, thought the countryside was going to be blue with flax blooms. Sold some more this winter for $13.00. The little I have left is for seed and will dump the rest when I know what I need for seed.

What kind of yield have you been getting compared to canola? Is 40 bushel canola field gonna do 30 bushel flax?

You don't wanna grow flax. Stick to wheat and canola. Flax sucks. Last 2 years have made guys think its the next wonder crop - till they get 15 bu an acre - and wrap that straw around every rotating thingy on the farm.

There's a reason you haven't grown it in years, you just forget why.

I wouldn't encourage any one to grow flax.

If you have a john deere header with a pickup reel trade it. They are no good for flax.

Macdon fd70 runs circles around my 635d.

the story at the farm show is that these bids are drawing in flax from elsewhere and they should be rewarded as more downside risk that upside.
