    Biting my tongue

Got a call from a local elevator for new crop barley for the tea market. I bit my tongue and replied no thanks to their $4/bu offer. I hope I don't end up regretting this decision but I thought it was almost insulting when bids for the same barley right now are in the $6 range picked up in the yard. I would rather wait and take $2.50 from the feed market before I will take that offer at this time of year ( it has happened before ).

Heard of some nasty buyouts happenning in the malt market. Need act of god if going to stick a price on it. Thought 5.50 new crop can be had for malt but elevator agents dont want to do it either.

$4/bushel will not attract much for malt contracts.

Malt contracts only ensures them a supply to pick from and every excuse in the book to reject it if markets fall or they "don't need it". Unless of course it's near perfect.

Good money to be made for those lucky enough to grow a good crop and have it accepted with a good price.

        Good luck.
