    Container in Container Out

We got ourselves into something... LOL... this is a trial run.

20ft container with 21MT of urea fertilizer, 46.97% according to the SGS results coming in in 1mt mini bulks.

CC (Commercially clean) #2 Canada HRS leaving in that same container, filled in 1mt mini bulks.

Cleaned to 0.5% damage, 0.3% max fuz, 13% protein or better.

Fertilizer coming in for $400 CAD a tonne, wheat leaving for $9.95 a bushel.

(those are farmgate prices, freight, handling, port fees all in).

That is good work Klause. I found that on my farm we have got complacent and sort of lazy to market and buy from the easiest source. Should be out doing what Klause is doing. I would hate to buy 1500T of fertilizer that way by really why not. Have the time just not hungry enough. Good margins have made me a far worse manager then 10 years ago

yes , you and me both! maybe we could offer Klause $745,000 to start this new importing -exporting business we need to start and fund it from our check off money . looks like he already is showing price discovery in fert and wheat markets

excellent klause good on you. reminds me of all the organic farmers that did there own leg work on the international stage to source markets as independants.not to start an argument between conventional or organic. my point is self initiative is what is required. that was the whole idea of elimanating the confines of a single desk afterall. possibilities are endless. just be a little descreet on financial info someone might come in and say we will take it from here.

caseih and wmoebis: is that quality the mills aren't even interested in? Do mills rely on their suppliers to "blend to their near exact specifications"? Kinda bugs me how grain gets blended down to the lowest possible specs within the grade specifications. I guess it doesn't matter as long as the falling numbers, protein, and other specs fall within tolerances?

Klause, do you have your grain tested to meet those specs? Payment?

How big is the margin cost benefit of going up to a forty foot?understand why you would want to do a twenty first.

good question on the 20 vs. the 40 ft container. Also if I ordered 8 to 10 containers at 40 could I keep the containers and sell or use on farm.

Mills rarely mill #1 or #2 most wheat I've seen going into mills is #3 or lower and I've seen ALOT of it. They are mostly interested in prot content and that is stays within milling specs for FN, fuz etc. that are all built into our grading standards in all milling grades.

There is more products made out of wheat blends that would only make feed grade by our primary standards than #1 or #2.

Your weight loaded in a 40 ft is governed by allowable axle weight. 40 ft is mostly used for bulkier light weight material.
