Do farmers support the Variety Release program in pulses? If they do then why not a similar program for cereals in Sask?

You have to be pretty short sighted to think that the only money for research would be from the commission checkoff.
If farmer owned and royalty varieties were grown on most of the land in western canada, that would generate how many $$$$?
Time to wake up perhaps o sleepy negative famers?

Wheat and barley check-off based producer organizations in western Canada have formed a Working Group to explore options for producer involvement in wheat and barley variety development. The Working Group has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to engage a consultant to assist in the exploration of options. A link to the RFP is below:

If the SWDC becomes an active funder of public breeding, could the present govt consider new legislation to disband the commission as it would be in direct competition with the corporate breeding companies and UPOV91? Just asking as the CWB was disbanded by new legislation which did not require a farmer vote like the previous federal act of Parliament.
