Both pars and charlie are right.
The difference is one of them is drawing a line in the sand and standing by it.
I hope we are smart enough to defend the correct rights and privileges while protecting what we have.

I believe Foreign Affairs mag has similar article.

Kind of a sad bastard that the _ _ _ was mentioned in this thread!

burnt and pars, I can't believe that the two of you didn't know or understand that Islam, Christians and Jews all have the same "God"

I never stated that Islam or Jews followed the trinity, but both of them follow the same "God" of Genesis that Christians do!

Some believers of "God" branched out to follow Jesus roughly 2000 years ago.

Some believers of "God" branched out to follow Muhammad roughly 1400 years ago.

The Islamic holy books are the records which most Muslims believe were dictated by God to various prophets. Muslims believe that parts of the previously revealed scriptures, the Tawrat (Torah) and the Injil (Gospels), had become distorted—either in interpretation, in text, or both.[5] The Qur'an (literally, "Reading" or "Recitation") is viewed by Muslims as the final revelation and literal word of God and is widely regarded as the finest literary work in the Arabic language.[40][41]

Muslims believe that the verses of the Qur'an were revealed to Muhammad by God through the archangel Gabriel (Jibrīl) on many occasions between 610 CE until his death on June 8, 632.[42] While Muhammad was alive, all of these revelations were written down by his companions (sahabah), although the prime method of transmission was orally through memorization.[43]

The Qur'an is divided into 114 suras, or chapters, which combined, contain 6,236 āyāt, or verses. The chronologically earlier suras, revealed at Mecca, are primarily concerned with ethical and spiritual topics. The later Medinan suras mostly discuss social and moral issues relevant to the Muslim community.[44]

Muslims identify the prophets of Islam (Arabic: أنۢبياء‎ anbiyāʾ ) as those humans chosen by God to be his messengers. According to the Qurʼan, the prophets were instructed by God to bring the "will of God" to the peoples of the nations. Muslims believe that prophets are human and not divine, though some are able to perform miracles to prove their claim. Islamic theology says that all of God's messengers preached the message of Islam—submission to the will of God. The Qurʼan mentions the names of numerous figures considered prophets in Islam, including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus, among others.[49]

Muslims believe that God finally sent Muhammad as the last law bearing prophet (Seal of the Prophets) to convey the divine message to the whole world (to sum up and to finalize the word of God).

Christians all know who Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus, are. They are the same people in the Bible, the Torah and the Quran.

boarder, I was agreeing with the statement. "Neither Jews or Muslims recognize the Trinity, Jesus as Son of God, or the resurrection."

That's what I have always understood, but trust me, I know a mere two teaspoons about worldy religious dogma..

Thanks for reminding me Cott; you'll pay for that quote... Pars

You shouldn't be concerned about the odd Canadian who is critical of Islam, charliep.

Farmer Joe's intolerance has little influence on Canada if he criticizes a Muslim women who traditionally never wore a niqab in ME countries, but will take Canada to court, in a New York minute, to make a religious statement, even though the Koran doesn't require it.

And Mrs Housewife Jones is just ignored when she complains about millions of dollars being transferred from Canada to ME countries to support terrorist activities. Every year.

And wet-behind-the-ears Media bloggers learn fast that any freedom of speech to criticize Islam is quickly quashed by human rights lawyers who knock on their doors.

                      But their intolerance concerns you.

And I too, Charliep, have to admit that I have my pet peeves about the Mr. Cool type doing business in the back seat of a Canadian mosque, earning money to run an election campaign.

And I am intolerant of Salon Sally who dedicates herself to packing flowers, a guitar, and a bottle of wine into her into her Welcome Wagon to reassure hardline Muslims they don't have to integrate into our Western lifestyle.

Yes, it's a good thing we're not married, Charlie, isn't it. Can we at least laugh about Winston's parallel.... My wine, and you drinking it? Pars.
