I dont get it. Any idea should not be painfull. No matter what age. Does the writer have a hangover?

My grandfather had a saying

" You will think differently when you are counting backwards."

He died when I was 22 and it was his way of ending an argument with me. At the time I found it baffling and annoying because I was, of course, right.
When I was in my 50's and realised I would not live forever, counting backwards, I remembered the saying and had to admit I did think differently.

Age does alter the way one thinks.

Looking back my grandfather was a very wise man but a 20 year old will never see that.

One of my priveleges is to spend time with family members in their 90's and still with most of the mental capability. They do have quite a story of change to tell based on their experiences. I guess in some sense I can say the same things.

Perhaps my frustration is people who seek answers to new problems with old solutions.

Shouldn't have posted the quote. My quirk is I like quotes/other things that challenge me to think differently.

My grandad would have been 125 today. Born 25/2/1890 and died 1972 what changes he saw. The end of the horse,cars planes,electricity medical advances radio tv etc.
At 65 myself I am about the same age now when I first remember him. I feel younger and I hope more open to new ideas but having just typed the list above perhaps not.
In our lives to date we also have seen great advances but sometimes I think we should look to the past as well as the future, not all new ideas are great and not all old solutions were bad.

....Charlie...you nailed it with your first quote. Like the second one better though about frustration using old solutions to/on new problems.
