    Marketing Meetings

Usually go to one or two grainco marketing meetings a winter.
Perhaps local area is different but growers, when they say anything, paint a different picture to the one on Agriville.
Only the odd one still trying to fight wheat board battle and not ready to move on.
    Ditto with blame the government.
Majority likely do not follow Agriville or attend farmer association meetings.
Do not see much willingness to band together as there was in days of the wheat pools and board.
Not to say it might not happen, but do not see it.

I think most people on agriville know the board discussion is pointless and don't even respond anymore.

    Its a non event.

      Went to a basf meeting.

      Learnt 3 things.

      1. Lanny Macdonald is a great speaker. I wish I would have taken my kid to listen to him.

      2. Larry weber has a better handle on ag issues than any farmer group or government official. And identified them in an hour speech.

      3. I am not sure I have enough money or time to apply all the products that basf recommends.

        Bayer meeting/supper/Gormley pep talk.
        Good time/food/drinks/info/socializing.
        Invigor has 50% of market.
Bayer has 25% of chem sales in Canada.
Take away that spraying for fuzz is "suppression only", 60% max effective. A feeble attempt at improving a sample, typically reducing about 1/2% , for $16/acre. Timing and application is full of variables.
Only Emerson winter wheat is RESISTANT to fuzz.
Agree can spend thousands on dozens of products.

Hoppy WE as farmers never did anything that benefited us as a group. The CWB thing to get rid of it was well funded and sold to the PROGRESSIVE farmers as a cure all, well it didnt cure any thing for joe farmer but did a hell of a lot for some individuals and now they can sit back and reap thier rewards , ie grain cos, those living next to terminals and border crossings. Not trying to flog the CWB debate but just pointing out the way I see it and as usual will have to live with the decision of those who benefit the most and that is far less than the majority.

O goodie another farm group to replace ones we already have like the NFU for instance. Then we get on our knees to pray but we had better watch out behind us as that will make it easier to **** (woops) service us.

Tweety, then compare the current situation to the future. Can only compare to what was, not what might be.

I don't hear a lot yearning for it back but hear very little saying the current situation is better either. Each be the judge of your own situation.

                Tom

So now you decide to start a crusade?

Maybe find a new point man on this file because many on here have been saying the system is ****ed while you disputed their claims.

When ritz ( your buddy) proclaimed the railways were doing a good job in November of 2013, I called his Ottawa office and told them they were full of shit because you could no longer spot price or deliver grain. That's the first indicator the system is failing.

                You still can't today.

The minister and his government are so offside on this file that nothing short of the threat of nationalizing something will cure it.

They are paying for transportation reports that Raitt will publicly dispute.

That's how ****ed up it is.

You better realize the conservative MPs have no desire to upset the apple cart as they look for life after politics.

                They don't ****ing care, tom.

And you are late to this party. The damage is done.

And yet you embrace C-91 that will further drain the pockets of your fellow farmers - but that's ok cause you will benefit I guess.
You would make a great political leader tom.

I was not clear enough I guess
This is as not about forming another farm group.
I agree we have plenty now.
When was the last time any of us...wrote the boards and comimssions our family farm specificly funds? And demanded they lobby and fund studies to end this great injustice Hunters JV is executing on all of us!
Pick any part of my railing you want... Send it as a Opinion piece to every paper you can find on google!
We have a very long way to go... To catch that great Hunter JV rail alliance!!!

Fj, they are correct on the fungicide being only 60% effective - on it's own.
Here is a trial we did with fungicides in hrsw at heading with and without a foliar nutrient:

                        A. 71 bus - headline with 6 ltr/ac Kugler XRN 14.2 pro, .45 fus, #2 red

                        B. 66.4 bus - 6 ltr/ac Kugler XRN 14.2 pro, .7 fus, #2 red

                        C. 60.16 bus - check 13 pro, .54 fus, #2 red

                        D. 73.2 bus - 75% caramba, 6 ltr/ac Kugler XRN, 14.1 pro, .2 fus, #1 red

                        E. 64.8 bus - full rate caramba, 13.5 pro, .3 fus, #2 red

                        F. 70.9 bus - 75% prasaro, 6 ltr/ac Kugler XRN, 13.6 pro, .12 fus, #1 red.

In this trial, fungicides did suppress fus about 50% on their own , but were more effective when used with a nutrient in reducing fus. We seen similar results in three other trials in hrsw in the area.

*note - the headline was just for interest sake. I know it is not registered for suppression of fus but thought it would be interesting to see.

All trials had 55 lbs N and 4 gal alpine at seeding.
6 ltr/ac Kugler 2075 was applied with herbicide on everything.

Furrow.. the choice for western Canadian grain growers... to access new and novel genetics... fusarium resistance... nitrogen fixing capacity... any one of many new and exciting opportunities we well could encourage...

Is a feather in our cap as Canadians. I am sorry you do not see it that way. Simple preparation by retaining seed stocks you enjoy on your farm... is a privilege you are granted under UPOV91. Enjoy these well deserved benefits... as well as the right NOT to be double billed on royalties and levys.

Have a great day... and write dear Hunter a letter!!!

Tom, access is not restricted now( I mean last week, before C-18). Chinese Sumai wheat looks good for FHB resistance, no one was preventing us from getting at it. Work has been done on N fixing wheat for over 30 years, again no restrictions to access.
Stronger abilities for big seed cos. to extract profit is all we get, farmers have nothing we didn't already have.
