Can't argue your logic. Lol.

And apparently neither can any regulator or politician in canada.

It's easier to **** up an economy than make it better.

When you have a duopoly environment cutting pulling power increases the demand for your service.....which drives rates upward.

Charlie did the Alberta government (Department of Ag) start this website in 1998?
If not, who started it?

Bucket;
"Wait a second. So if I dropped one combine and ran twice the acres thru one I would be more efficient? "

I agree! Let the crop sit out over winter if need be...

I have totally be void of common sense!

Besides... there is plenty of grain in the world... no one needs high quality premium grain anyway! We help the domestic feed industry when we produce more feed grains!

Railways have proven the point that they have been allowed to become pretty high and mighty.
Joint running rights would be one way for government to force their hand, but, big but, would a majority conservative government that has "loyal" supporters need to ruffle feathers by getting tough with them? No, they would rather the farmer get plucked.

Experts shareholders and others think the cost cutting of locomotives and cats have made the railways more efficient.

What it's been doing is pushing freight onto a more costly and less efficient public highway system.

I am at a bit of a loss as to why people think this is good?

Oliver88,

I have a Agriville bag that was given me with all that information but need to find. It was set by Jory Lamb/a private company that I forget the name of (Canada Rural something). If you look at the about Agriville information area on the website, Farms.com took the sight over in 2007. There was a six month period when there was a lot of uncertainty as to whether Agriville would survive with a least some of the posters on here offering to put up venture capital to keep it going. When you consider the original operating system was Windows 97, it has been quite an amazing process to keep it going for this long. I think even Farms.com/Joe would agree that the software is long in the tooth but as in many things on your farm, why fix something for a lot of money/uncertain payback when the current tool is working.

Will do more homework.

Another feature of Agriville is nobody including me ever stays on topic in these threads. Flavor of the day usually finds its way into most threads.

I forgot to mention there was some government funding in the beginning at the development stage. Not sure whether 100 % Alberta or some Federal/Provincial contribution. It was weaned off pretty shortly after its launch.

The company was Canadian Rural Computer Services. I did a google/bing search on Jory Lamb and came up with the following. He has been a real success story.

Jory Lamb

Reading Jory's story reminds me of how far we/agriculture has come in using computers. A strange comment I have heard is that baby boomers grew up in a world of no computers but have adapted. The new generation will have never experienced a world without technology/the internet.

Sorry for too many posts. When you guys ask a question I can't answer (happens many times), I start doing research. Here is press release that talks about the transfer of Agriville from Canadian Rural Computer Services to Farms.com.
