One last thing. I am not jealous either of those who go to Mexico or some warm clime for a bit each winter. Honestly, those places hold zero interest for me personally. I have other place I would far rather go. I recognize that some of those folks that DO go to tropical destinations probably simply fail to understand that I would rather go out in the cold and feed animals, than go to some warm place and kick up my heals.

My point is, construing that as jealousy, drives me CRAZY. I do apologize, if it comes across as jealousy. I really don't have any.

Now if folks were going to Scotland, the Pennines, Israel, Norway, Iceland, Bavaria, or Ireland... Well then I would be jealous!

Vvalk, I DO get your point in a lot of ways. Some may be jealous, I dunno. I am simply saying I am not I guess.

I try my best not to take shots at SF3. I agree, sometimes shots are taken, I get that...

Often though, I take shots when discussing costs, for example. The other day we were chatting about new iron or older iron. Using real numbers on my farm, I got accused that it was impossible to have a 50 cent an acre tractor cost for a year. Well, call me lucky, but that was my cost last year. Maybe next year it will be 10 bucks, I don't know.

      The accusations go both ways...

I know, but I have talked with lots of guys who think like me, and for the most part, we are about as jealous of the fence post in my pasture. We just aren't. In talking with others, the accusation of jealousy, is usually discussed in the same way: When we are accused of jealousy by the wealthy, the lucky, or the arrogant, it is generally agreed that these people are the ones looking for justification, and simply have no understanding of folks like us, who are simply not jealous.

In fact, it is often the case where the jealousy accusers are the types who are in it for assets, money, or size. Often, not always.

ummm......I was joking. I work everyday, travel when I can. I really struggle at doing books.I try to take weekends off, but my wife works in the week, so then farming has to happen on weekends. Move along, nothing to see here..

I have to agree with Walk's assessment of your posts. Hard to tell if a guy is joking when there's a constant pattern.

Those diesel 4x4's are pretty important , when your not living in town and rely on them everyday.
Don't let them shame you into thinking it's not necessary, I don't want to be shorting out the starter on the old 78 ford to get to the hospital.
I spend more time at the rink than I want to but that's because the hockey nazis in charge think it's the only thing to do all winter, not much choice if you want to give your kids a taste of hockey, it's balls to the wall if you join a team.

One day we will br able to take vacations like SF3... that kind of wealth doesn't come over night and hats off to those that "have arrived" it's not arrived at without a lot of blood sweat and tears.

I think we are fortunate to have all sorts on here... from Grassfarmer to saskfarmer.

                      From Hopperbin to Tom4cwb

I think you need to relax a bit vvalk.

Long winter. Cash flow troubles for some.

                      Lower grain prices.

It wears on a guy. Just remember what's important.... and give your Mrs a hug and a kiss.

Forage guy. I already know you have absolutely no sense of humor, so no worries!

                        Again,

Breadwinner, you win. You made the best post on here, and I agree with you 100%.

If one is enjoying what you do, it is not work.

I do work on occasion though. I am not a big fan of flat bottom bins with peas or barley...

And Klause, bang on. Material success, is not a flip of the switch kind of thing, it is often earned.

I was told by a old boss of mine one time.
Don't overdo it to much, she will take half of it if she pulls out on you.
If it's working for you keep going tho!

Klause. Lighten up seems to be a one way street. Make any comments to a "smaller" or struggling farm about anything and everyone gangs up and gets real upset. I guess its always been that way

People always see big as evil.... it's human nature

                              Just like people hating Microsoft.

Imho kicking a guy when he is down shows poor character doesn't matter which if any side is big or small

Me? I don't care if you have 50 or 50,000 acres. Your welcome in my house and the beer is in the fridge.

Spring, summer and fall..Winter haul grain when we can..Otherwise do the second occupation..Ski-doo as much as possible..Keeps the stress level down ...No thoughts of farming going down the trail, and enjoying the scenery..
